New Feature on Destiny!

Wish that Destiny could search ALL of the library's material on a single topic at once without having to search the card catalog, databases and websites separately?

Now you can with UNIVERSAL SEARCH. Universal Search can be accessed by opening up Follett/Destiny from any computer in the building and logging in (use your school username and password). Then click on CMS and catalog and on the left hand side you will a link for Universal Search. Click on that and begin your search!

Universal Search also allows students and teachers to search by particular criteria such as reading level (Lexile), genre, author, availability, etc. Ultimately, Universal Search streamlines the process of finding the right digital and traditional library resources for every situation.

Want to create a digital cork board? I just heard about this from some staff members, and it's awesome! What a great way to kids to collaborate and post book reviews or other "gallery walk" type assignments!

New to the CMS Library

Rebecca Zarabi

I'm currently reading the Indispensable Librarian: Surviving and Thriving in School Libraries in the Information Age. This book was assigned by Danielle Romero for our librarian book club. I know everyone is going to rush out to buy it!!! All jokes aside, it's actually a very interesting and useful book.

Jackie Chirico

With R.J. Palacio's visit on the horizon, I decided to read two of the additional three stories she has written to accompany Wonder.

The first is called Julian's Chapter which is an additional chapter to Wonder in which we get to see things from Julian's (the bully of the story) perspective. Since so many fans wrote in to ask why Julian doesn't have a chapter in the book, Palacio wrote one.

The second is called Pluto which is a short story in which readers get a peek at Auggie's life before Beecher Prep told entirely from the point of view of Christopher, Auggie's oldest friend.

I am eagerly awaiting the release of Shingaling the third story which will be released on May 12th. In this story, we will get to read about life as a fifth grader at Beecher Prep through the eyes of Charlotte, the girl who had been chosen to be one of Auggie's "welcome" buddies.

Julian's Chapter & Pluto are currently only available as ebooks which we have on our Nooks in the library. You can come by and check one out today! Shingaling will be available on May 12th as an ebook only.
