Greetings Cottonwood Families

Hello Cottonwood Family,

This year seems to be going by faster and faster each month. This last month was full of exciting activities for our scholars. Our 4th graders went to the Ramona Pageant and saw one of the longest-running plays. Then both our 4th and 5th graders went to Riley's farm to relive history! Our 4th graders learned about the gold rush and the 5th graders learned about the revolutionary war.

May is our last full month and we still have a ton to learn. Coming on May 12th we have our Open House/Literacy Night. Please come and enjoy a quick meal, fun activities and see some of your scholars' work in class.

Please remind your scholars that although the year is winding down, they still need to be respectful and follow school rules. We have numerous fun activities to round out the year and we would like them all to be able to participate. On May 24th we will have our last Coffee with the Principal. Please mark your calendars!

Mother's Day - May 8th

Do something to let your mom know how special she is.

Book Fair - May 9-13th

Come find some summer reading books and support the library. 7:30-3:00 Daily and 5-6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Open House and Literacy Night - May 12th

5:00 - 6:30 p.m. - Barbecue Dinner, Literacy Activities, Book Fair & Classroom Visits

Spring Concert - May 18th

Enjoy the students perform from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

MS Track and Field Tournament - May 19th

Middle School students will compete in track and field events at Julian.

End of Year Pool Party - May 23rd

Students and staff will enjoy a day of fun in the sun at Diamond Valley Lake.

Grad Walk - May 24th

Former Cottonwood Cougars who are Graduating in 2022 are invited to come and walk the halls and reminisce, students arrive at 8:00 a.m..

Field Day - May 27th

Cottonwood Students will be enjoying a field day. There will be water slides, games, activities, and a school wide barbecue.

Memorial Day - May 30th

In Observance of Memorial there is No School on Monday, May 31st! Be safe and have a wonderful time.

End of the Year Awards Assemblies - June 1

1st-5th Grade Awards Assembly from 9:30 -11:00 a.m.

Middle School Awards Assembly 11-12:00 p.m.

8th Grade Promotion - June 1st

8th Grade Promotion will take place from 1:30-3:00 p.m.

Kindergarten Promotion - June 2nd

Kindergarten Promotion will take place at 8:30 a.m.

Character Corner

Character Corner

For the month of May our school will emphasize the character trait of "Punctuality". Punctuality is showing respect for other and their time.

Some characteristics of Punctuality include:

I will tell the truth
I will play by the rules
I will not exaggerate the facts
I will admit when I am wrong
I will not take things that don’t belong to me

We would love to see our students in action demonstrating our character trait! Please e-mail any pictures of your children to Mrs. Niaves (aniaves@hemetusd.org) demonstrating Punctuality in school, around the house or the community so that we can showcase their efforts!
