October 2019
Principal's Note
Believe it or not, the first 9 weeks of school is complete on October 4th. I do believe the weeks get faster and faster. It's been a great start to the school year.
On October 9th and 10th, families will have the opportunity to sit down with their child's teacher for Parent/Teacher Conferences. We feel this is a valuable time to come together to discuss your child's strengths and areas of support. If you haven't scheduled conference time, your child's teacher will be in touch.
Classroom Halloween Parties will be Friday, Nov 1st in the afternoon. Teachers and PTO are coordinating the parties. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's teacher.
We have a couple of family events that we hope you are able to attend. On November 19, we are hosting STEM Night! It will be a fun time exploring science, technology, engineering, and math. I think you'll even get to explore Outerspace.
PTO will be hosting Grandparent's Night on November 21. Mark your calendar and more information will be provided after Fall Break.
If you have any questions, share news about your child, or just want to say hello, please do! I enjoy spending time with you and learning more about your family! My door is always open.
It's a Great Day to be a Mohawk!

All of the orders placed will be back in time for Christmas!! Your child’s artwork will make great Christmas gifts for your entire family! So don’t forget to place your order.
PE
The students have been focusing on sportsmanship during Physical Education classes this first nine weeks. Students are reminded to bring appropriate shoes for PE.
Music
I am looking forward to returning to WES for the 2nd nine weeks! Grades 3, 4 & 5 will begin their recorder studies and all students will be preparing for upcoming programs. First, our Veteran's Day program will be with the High School on November 11.Then, our Christmas Program (my last Christmas program...) will also be in the HS gym on Wednesday, December 4. All elementary students will be involved in both programs. More information will be sent as the dates draw closer.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS
>If there is a change in your child's afternoon transportation, you must call the school office and let us know. The office will generate a change in transportation form, "red note". The "red note" signals to the bus drivers and dismissal crew there is a change. If we don't receive that call, students will be sent home their "normal" way.
>I want to remind you to slow down in the morning drop-off line. You must stay in a single line. It is very dangerous when cars pull out of line and pass other cars. Remember to park if you need to walk your child into school. If possible, please have your children exit through the passenger side of the vehicle. This will greatly reduce the possibility of a child getting hit in the parking lot. Thank you for helping make our school property as safe as possible.
Children's Museum Art Contest Winners
The Children's Museum had over 3,000 entries for the Haunted House Contest this year and the judges were so impressed with all the amazing artwork.
Waldron Elementary had several students in the Top 30 which means their artwork will be on display at the Children's' Museum from October 11-October 31.
Congratulations, Alanyna, Claire, Mason, Alexis, Leslie, and Jenna! Way to represent WES!
