Live. Learn. And Grow as Leaders

November 22, 2022

From Ms. Mallette and Mrs. Orf

During this time of year we often reflect on what we are thankful for. Each and everyday at Highland Park is a gift. We are so thankful to have the best students, staff and families. There is no other place we would rather come to work to everyday. We would like to wish all of our families a wonderful holiday break and enjoy this time with family and friends.

Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade at HPE!

First grade students created balloons for their very own Macy's Parade! They utalized ozobots and created a map of the parade route for their balloon to follow. Students completed this project in our Maker's Space using a green screen to film the parade. Mrs. Leonard helped in editing to add a New York City background to create the full parade experience. Check out the parade videos below.

Student Lighthouse Team

Our Student Lighthouse Team collected 181 clothing items and 364 pounds of food in two days! All donations were delivered to Coldwater Pantry this morning. Way to go Huskies!

The default screen allows you to shop magazines and other SchoolStore items for higher %. And, if you click on the "Merchants" tab at the top, you'll have access to hundreds of vendors offering HPE a small % of proceeds. If you need assistance, you can call the processing center at 800-528-7789 for assistance with a purchase.

3. Be on an antibiotic for at least 24 hours before returning.

4. If coughing- it should be well controlled and no longer persistent.

5. Be feeling well enough to make it through the day.

We encourage everyone to drink plenty of fluids, get plenty of sleep, blow your nose and wash your hands frequently! If you ever have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call us at 816-986-2272. Thank you and stay well!

Does your High School Student need Hours??

We are in need of 3-4 people to assist with our Homework Club. This club is after school on Wednesdays for one hour. This is perfect opportunity for high school students to get their community service and/or A+ hours. We begin this next week so hoping your student (maybe an HPE Alum) can help! Contact Alyson Fortney and the A+ coordinator for LSHS/LSN if interested!

Lunch Visitors - Reminder

*Visitors may bring lunch and eat with their child Monday-Thursday (no visitors on Fridays)

*No lunch visitors two weeks before winter break

There are a few things to keep in mind when eating lunch with your child...

  • If a person other than a parent/guardian is wanting to have lunch with a student we must have permission from the parent prior to the visitor arriving.
  • You may only each lunch with your child, they may not bring a friend with them.
  • Your visit is limited to lunch only. As soon as you are done eating with your child you will need to check out through the front office.
