Big Era 6 and 7

Big Era 6
This time period is called the great convergence because people, resources, and ideas from the whole world came together.
"World population increased owing to improved nutrition and migration" (Big Era 6 Powerpoint). Since the world population was increasing more resources were needed all around the world, causing the world trade volume to increase dramatically. "Plants, animals, and micro-organisms of Afroeuroasia were exchanged with those of the Americas" (Big Era 6 Powerpoint)
"Knowledge and ideas spread among people in the world" (Big Era 6 Powerpoint). Which led to new science, technology, cultural development, and religion expanding tremendously. Big Era 6 was a time where people amalgamated in every aspect of life.
Big Era 7
Big Era 7 was different from Big Era 6 because of fossil fuels, democratic politics, and the communication revolution.
"The need for human resources was growing so humans started using fossil fuels to provide energy" (Big Era 7 Powerpoint). In Big Era 6 fossil fuels like coal, electricity, gas, petroleum, and nuclear were nonexistent.
"There were new political ideas: people should be able to choose their government, the government should protect people's liberties, people should have equal rights, constitutions were made, and representative institutions were established" (Big Era 7 Powerpoint). These new political ideas used in Big Era 7 changed governments entirely from the governments of Big Era 6.
"People, ideas, and travel all moved more quickly" (Big Era 7 Powerpoint). The communication revolution, which consisted of the newspaper, steamboats, railroads, and the transatlantic cable, allowed new modern ideas to be spread; these ideas were antiseptic medicine, industrial technology, colonizing, the metric system, etc. Big Era 7, unlike Era 6, was when the modern world bloomed.
