Bag It!
Send in a shopping bag for each child by June 8th. Please label it with their name. We will be collecting our things as we clean our classroom over the next two weeks!
Special Thanks
To our room parents, Dawn, Debbie and Dawn! Thank you for all our awesome parties and all of your help this year! Your hard work, creativity and organization were just fantastic! You are appreciated!
Camp Creek Run
It was a beautiful Spring day, and we had a blast at Camp Creek Run. The Theme of our day was "Spring Has Sprung as Camp Creek Run"! We learned about butterflies and birds, checked out Dolittle Farm, took a Spring hike and identified birds and nests, did a water study and caught tadpoles, learned about bird nests and made a bird nest craft and we played! Thank you to our chaperones and to our very well-behaved students for a fabulous trip!
Literacy
Over the next two weeks, each child will have the chance to read a story of their choice aloud to the class. It will be a great way to celebrate all we have learned about reading this year!
We will reread our Journeys favorite stories and play skills games to review all we have learned about reading, grammar, phonics and vocabulary. We will read and review our Language and Reading Notebooks.
Class Big Book
We will create a book that offers advice to the next Second Grade class! Students will work in pairs or teams to write and illustrate a page in a class book that tells incoming students everything they need to know about Second Grade. It will be a great opportunity to reflect on the year and all we have learned! I will read it to the First Grade on Pass Up Day.
Letter Writing
We will write a letter to introduce ourselves to our Third Grade teacher. This is an opportunity for your child to introduce themselves as a learner to their new teacher. We will review the parts of a friendly letter, write a rough draft and publish a letter for Mrs. Lundgren.
Social Studies
We will reflect on our year and discuss how we have grown! We will also discuss Summer Safety and make summer safety posters.
Math
Thank You!!!!
I want to thank each of you for your overwhelming support this year. I have loved teaching and getting to know your children each day! I also feel so fortunate to come to a place like Edison where I get to do what I love every day with such amazing children, teachers, staff and parents. Our Room 5 family has grown so much, and I am so very proud of our children! This year has been a great learning adventure!
I will share a little secret with you, I am a very emotional person and I have grown very fond of your children! It will be hard for me to say good-bye on the last day (I will cry, no doubt). The students have accomplished so much and they are ready for Third Grade. Please know that I am available for your children and you, if you ever need anything. Thank you so much for sharing your children with me this year. Have a wonderful summer!
Fondly,
Mrs. T.
