NWEA MAP Testing continues this week

NWEA MAP Testing continues this week

NWEA Testing for Math will begin this week. All students in grades 6-8 will take the NWEA test in their Math classes. Students will have as much time as they need to complete the test and can be completed over the course of more than one day if needed. Students that have missed previous tests or are unable to finish will be provided an opportunity in a make-up session.


The NWEA MAP Test (Measures of Academic Progress) is an adaptive achievement and growth test. It creates a personalized assessment experience by adapting to each student's learning level—precisely measuring progress and growth for each individual student. Your child's results and growth will be shared with you at our next Parent Teacher Conferences in March.


You can make sure that your child is able to perform their best on the test by making sure that they are getting a good night's sleep every night.

Candy Gram Sale

Candy Grams will be on sale starting Feb. 1st before school. Candy Grams will be $1 and will include your choice of conversation hearts or a ring pop with a note that you can personalize. You can send them to your friends and teachers.

Candy Grams will be delivered to 6th hour classes on Feb. 14th.

Chaperone's Wanted

If you are interested in chaperoning the Valentine's Dance on 2/23 from 5pm - 7pm, we would love to have you! Please reach out to Mrs. Tremblay if you are interested at wtremblay@ccs.coloma.org

After School Clubs with Mr. Renfro

Tuesday Art Club: Watercolors - Our focus will be on learning to use watercolors for backgrounds and landscapes. All of the materials needed will be provided.


Wednesday Pilot's R.C club - We will be learning how to program the DJI Tello Drones with Scratch. Only students interested in pre-programmed flight patterns are to attend. There will be no open drone flying.


Thursday Game Day Club - The Adventure begins as we go deep into the depths of the earth. Gamers are welcome to bring board games, and non-electronic games to play.

Valentine's Dance - Feb. 23rd 5pm - 7pm

We have adjusted the date of our Valentine's Dance on Wednesday, Feb. 23rd to avoid any athletic conflicts.

The dance will be held in the cafeteria of the JH from 5pm - 7pm. Tickets will be on sale the week of the dance for $5 each.



Students can qualify to attend the dance by not having any discipline referrals from Jan. 18th - Feb. 23rd.


We will have Pizza, Snacks and Drinks available for purchase as well.

In the event of an unexpected change to your child's after school transportation - please call prior to 2:30pm. The end of the day can be very busy in the main office and at times it can be difficult for us to get messages to students.

Student Illness

Just a reminder to please keep your child home if they are exhibiting any of the following symptoms as laid out in our Return to Learn Plan.


Students exhibiting the following symptoms which are strong indicators of COVID-19 shall remain home or excluded from school for 10 days unless a negative COVID-19 test result or a doctor’s note stating the student may return to school is provided to school authorities.


● Fever (temp over 100.4) or feeling feverish/chills

● Cough

● Sore throat

● Runny or stuffy nose (congestion)

● Muscle or body aches

● Headaches

● Fatigue (tiredness)

● Vomiting and diarrhea

● Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

● New loss of taste or smell
