One School, One Book Kick Off

Our One School, One Book is The Island of Dr. Libris by Chris Grabenstein!! The students celebrated the kick off of this school-wide event at an assembly today where your child received a copy of Chris Grabenstein's book. They were also surprised to hear that Chris Grabenstein will be our visiting author on March 29th. Thank you to the PTO for supporting this family reading event! This is a fun book for all ages.

For the next six weeks, I'd like everyone to set aside a little time each night or weekend so your family can participate in this special school-wide project.

I am asking parents to read the weekly assigned pages at home with your child/children. Even if your child has read this book before, One School, One Book allows a reread to be more exciting and interactive as a family.

  • Please read to page 45 by Thursday, February 21.
  • Please try not to read ahead so everyone at school may participate together.

Each Friday during homeroom, there will be time for the students to turn and talk to answer trivia questions about the book. You'll soon learn that his book is all about reading and how magical our imagination can be. All students can enter into a twice a week raffle for chances to take home a Dr. Libris sketch pad. The students can draw a scene from The Island of Dr. Libris or another book they are reading. So, please join us for some school-wide fun during these cold winter evenings. Happy Reading!!
