Things to Know

Grades 3-5 Airways assessments will be this week. Sped and office will have limited flexibility due to covering small groups.

We are trying to pull all small groups and individualized testing, but due to limited staffing we may need to combine some 1:1 students for this testing period, but during IREAD and ILEARN they will get their 1:1 accommodations.

COGAT for K has arrived. I will get it to K teachers on Monday.

Wednesday March 4th-GR Victory Table Observations

Time/ Teacher

9:00 ElliottRm. 12 K and 1st grade teachers observing. Meet outside the classroom before going in.

9:50 Simmons Rm 32 2nd and 3rd grade teachers observing. Meet outside the classroom before going in.

10:40 Rigsby Rm. 44 4th and 5th grade teachers observing. Meet outside the classroom before going in.

We will observe the 20 minute victory table in each room. Then we will go to the nearby debriefing room to discuss.

Jennifer Stevens will cover the observed teacher while she is with the debriefing group.

Next year Grades K-3 will not be using the student planners. Parents will read and sign that they read when registering students for the 20-21 school year.

Grades 3-5

Everyday Math Reminders:

  • March 2 – 6: Pre-Test for Unit 7 = EM Math Boxes 6-14

  • March 5 – 10: Unit 6 Post-Test (Benchmark CFA Part 2 of 2) = EM Unit 6 Cumulative Assessment

  • 8:00am March 16: Deadline to Enter results of Unit 6 Cumulative Assessment into Everyday Math Record

AIRWays: The AIRWays Assessment Window begins next week: 3/2-3/13. Remember, this assessment measures how our students are currently performing on standards they should have mastered by the END of the current year. The results will be a helpful tool in deciding which areas may need more focus between now and the actual end of the year assessments.

Next week marks the last week in Q3-C2. The post-assessment should be given by next Friday, 3/6 and we will discuss this data during Collaboration Time on 3/11.

19/20 Collaboration Schedule

Tuesday and Wednesday PD Schedules. This may change and will be updated throughout the year.

Conscious Discipline Thoughts

I've noticed February is kind of a chaotic month! As we enter the next few weeks I am trying to focus on remaining in my executive state when I am maybe in a situation when I can feel myself heading into an emotional state. Just like on an airplane you have to put your oxygen mask on before you put on your child's.

Remember to take a deep breath and just as we do with student's remind yourself that you are safe and you can handle this (even if it feels like you really can't at that very moment). We cannot help a student get to a higher state of their brain than we are in (see below).

Take care of yourself!

FTCSC Hedgehog Focus

The Hedgehog Concept is based on an ancient Greek parable that states, "The fox knows many things, but the hedgehog knows one big thing." ... Hedgehogs, however, simplify the world and focus on a single, overarching vision, which they then achieve.
