Classroom Spotlight... Mrs. Le Parc's Classes!

Mrs. Le Parc’s ESL 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade students have connected and partnered with a classroom in Athens, Greece. In the past, our English Language Learners connected with classrooms in other countries such as Japan, Korea, Belarus, Australia, and the United Kingdom. This year we connected with Greece!

We will be using ePals to increase global awareness, teach digital skills, and to develop collaborative-learning skills. We have been reading, writing, and typing away to our new friends and learning new and fun information! The students have been researching facts about Greece, learning what the traditions for the winter holidays are, looking up popular foods, and reading about what a normal school day is like in Greece. Using Google Classroom, the students have been writing emails to our Greek pen pals and we have been exchanging letters on a weekly basis. Our new friends are learning English just like our ELLs at Brookside and we look forward to our next letters!

Media Center Makeover... Thank you PTO!!

The Brookside Media Center has completed Phase 1 of a special transformation! Thanks to the Brookside PTO for providing a new coat of paint and some really fun furniture and accessories! We are also planning on replacing the tables and chairs, and adding so additional shelving, and technology. The best part is watching how much the students are already enjoying the space!

Health Office - Mrs. Bolton

Fifth grade students at Brookside Elementary School attended a program on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 sponsored by the Epilepsy Foundation. Presenter, Jenna Andolora, is explaining to the students the types of seizures and how they can assist anyone having a seizure. Please ask your fifth grade student what T. R. U. S. T. stands for.

The Cold Weather Reminder!

Parents, please be reminded that children should come to school prepared for outside recess. A hat, gloves and a scarf are all things that children should have with them to keep them warm in the cold weather.
