October is Bullying Prevention Month

Talking to Your Student

Talk to your kids about bullying even if you don’t think they are victims, bullies or bystanders. Remember, simply by asking your children about bullying, you are protecting them and others. Ask how things are going at school. Ask what they think of the other kids in their classes. Ask if anyone gets picked on or bullied. Be aware that some kids who are bullied will fear going to school or develop real medical symptoms such as stomach pains, or other illnesses.

Sign up HERE to donate candy and non-food treats

NHE PTA is hosting a Trunk or Treat event in the school parking lot Friday, October 29th from 6-7:30.

Kids will get to show off their costumes as they "trick or treat" from trunk to trunk. Non-food, allergen friendly treats will also be available at some of the trunks, just look for the Teal Pumpkin signs.

Parents, we need volunteers to deck out their trunks in spook-tacular fashion and hand out treats.

Volunteer Spotlight

Newport Heights PTA is a volunteer-led organization and we couldn’t do any of what we do without our volunteers. Periodically, we like to spotlight one of the many volunteers that make the magic happen.

7 members of our amazing Newport Heights Elementary Safety Patrol went above and beyond by volunteering their mornings to hand out goodie bags for our National Walk to School Day celebration. Because of our participation in the event, and the invaluable help from these 7 students, the Newport Heights PTA will be receiving funding to replace worn out Safety Patrol vests and flags!

So we want to take a moment and say: Ella, Harper, Isabella Kylie, Makai, Olivia and Yulia, we appreciate you and everything you do!

New Diversity, Equity and Inclusions Facebook Group

Newport Heights PTA now has a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Facebook group in addition to our main page.

Newport Heights PTA encourages representation and participation by diverse groups of people, including people of different genders, races and ethnicities, abilities and disabilities, religions, cultures, ages, and sexual orientations and people with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and skills and expertise.

This group was created to provide a safe place for those of us that are passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion in education have a safe space to share ideas and support each other as we work together to give every child the best learning experience possible!
