October is Bullying Prevention Month
Talking to Your Student
Talk to your kids about bullying even if you don’t think they are victims, bullies or bystanders. Remember, simply by asking your children about bullying, you are protecting them and others. Ask how things are going at school. Ask what they think of the other kids in their classes. Ask if anyone gets picked on or bullied. Be aware that some kids who are bullied will fear going to school or develop real medical symptoms such as stomach pains, or other illnesses.

Trunk or Treat at School

NHE PTA is hosting a Trunk or Treat event in the school parking lot Friday, October 29th from 6-7:30.
Kids will get to show off their costumes as they "trick or treat" from trunk to trunk. Non-food, allergen friendly treats will also be available at some of the trunks, just look for the Teal Pumpkin signs.
Parents, we need volunteers to deck out their trunks in spook-tacular fashion and hand out treats.

Membership Goal Status - 28%
Goal: Every NHE student is represented in PTA by at least one important adult in their lives.
Status: Currently 28% of our students are represented. We are just over 1/4 of the way there!
There is NO obligation or expectation to volunteer or attend meetings. (But we do LOVE to meet members and find fun opportunities for those that want to help!)
Membership assistance is available. We do not want funds to stand in the way of those that want to join. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to request a confidential scholarship.
Fundraising Goal Status - 28%
Status: We are 28% of the way to our goal.
And remember to ask your employers about their Corporate Match Plan. Many local employers will match the donation you make up to 100%!
Every dollar contributed to our Pass the Hat fundraiser goes directly to support the programs offered by the PTA. A donation of $100 covers our spending per student, but any amount is appreciated. Every dollar counts!
We are a 501(3)(c) non-profit organization. All donations are 100% tax deductible. Our Tax ID number is 91-1208399.
Newport Heights PTA is a volunteer-led organization and we couldn’t do any of what we do without our volunteers. Periodically, we like to spotlight one of the many volunteers that make the magic happen.
7 members of our amazing Newport Heights Elementary Safety Patrol went above and beyond by volunteering their mornings to hand out goodie bags for our National Walk to School Day celebration. Because of our participation in the event, and the invaluable help from these 7 students, the Newport Heights PTA will be receiving funding to replace worn out Safety Patrol vests and flags!
So we want to take a moment and say: Ella, Harper, Isabella Kylie, Makai, Olivia and Yulia, we appreciate you and everything you do!

Please sign up to join our School Board Directors for a small group virtual listening session. We invite you to share what is working for you, the challenges, and how we can improve student experiences and outcomes.
Your input will be used to build broader and deeper connections among stakeholders and leaders throughout the District and to inform district and board understanding, direction setting and decision-making. It will bring more voices to participate in designing, implementing, evaluating, and visioning the core work of our District and our Board.
