Thanksgiving Food Drive
LaSalle Catholic will be collecting items for the Metro Catholic Outreach Food Pantry from November 15th-21st. The Metro Catholic Outreach Food Pantry serves many families in our community. Students are encouraged to show the many things they are thankful for by bringing in food items to donate to the Metro Catholic Outreach Food Pantry. The food bank is currently in need of toiletries, canned soups, pancake mix, syrup, pasta, peanut butter, and canned meats, so we have made sure to make these items the focus of our food drive.
To add a little extra incentive and excitement for our students as they share their gifts with those in need, all students who bring in 3-5 items will earn a free dress pass!
Please see suggestions in the attachment below. Keep in mind, any food item, including those not on this list, will be accepted and appreciated.
Metro Catholic Outreach
Metro Catholic Outreach (MCO) helps out families in need. Sometimes times may be tough if a family is going through changes, dealing with medical expenses, or unexpected bills. MCO Food bags are available weekly (with items that are easy for kids to make on their own -- i.e. Easy Mac n Cheese, cans of soup with pop tops, fruit cups, granola bars, and fun treats). No proof of income required. Please contact Katherine Sterling, school counselor, to start receiving these bags weekly. All contacts are confidential.
Walk-a-thon Success!
Thank you and congratulations to the Parent Association and everyone that helped to make this fall's walk-a-thon fundraiser such a huge success! We surpassed our $25k goal and raised a net total over $31,000! All of these funds will be used to improve the seven main bathrooms on campus (four in the elementary and three in the middle school). Target areas include floors, sinks, partitions, vent fans, plumbing, locks, lights, and more. Of course, bathroom renovations can be very expensive, so we necessarily will address items prudently and in phases. The first improvement should be new floors which should be done this school year but not before Christmas break. We will keep you posted right here with photos as updates are available. Thank you again so much!

Concessions Help Needed for the Parent Association
As you might have heard, Taft had to close their gym for use by all their sports teams for what looks like this year. As a result, we have the opportunity to open our concession stand during the Taft basketball home games hosted at LaSalle. The concession stand is a big money maker for the Parent Association and we are in need of two volunteers per game. Please click the link below for the boys games and stay tuned for girls basketball and wrestling as well. Thank you!

LASALLE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NEWS
Mrs. Horstmann's 2nd Grade Service Learning Project
Highlighting one of our grade level/classroom's service learning project:
Mrs. Horstmann's 2nd grade classroom has decided to adopt an elderly person for their service learning project. Their class has adopted Mr. Lawrence Roudabush, our elderly school volunteer who does so much work with making our HyVee Cash 4 Students Campaign so successful. Mr. Roudabush is experiencing some health issues at this time, but is still determined to continue with volunteering. We thank the students in Mrs. Horstmann's class for taking Mr. Roudabush under their wing by creating greeting cards for him as well as doing other helpful things for him. We know that Mr. Roudabush will appreciate all the kindness the students will be showing him.
Sacramental Records
Please remember that along with needing copies of health forms, etc. (including birth certificates) for our student files, we also need copies of the following sacramental documents as well:
1. Baptismal certificate
2. 1st Eucharist certificate (for students in 2nd - 4th grades). Students typically make their 1st Eucharist in the Spring of their 2nd grade year.
Please either bring a copy of these document(s) in to the office or email them to: kireland@lasallecatholiccr.org. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
PARENT ASSOCIATION CORNER
TEACHER OF THE MONTH: OCTOBER
The October teacher of the month is……Mrs. Williams!! Congratulations, Mrs. Williams. For being so awesome, Mrs. Williams will receive a small gift card and a free meal at Texas Roadhouse. Keep reading to find out what makes her so awesome….
Heather Williams is an amazing principal who goes above and beyond daily. On top of all her regular responsibilities, she has been subbing in the music room for a full day, at least once every week! That’s a lot to take on, but she never complains. She simply does what is best for the students with a smile on her face. In the pickup line, she furthers connections with families, often greeting parents and students by name and sharing little stories of what their kids were up to at school that day. She volunteered herself as the “prize” for many of the walkathon incentive levels, whether it was for egging her, silly-stringing her, having extra recess with her, or having pizza lunch with her. This worked as an incentive BECAUSE of how much the students love and respect her. Her genuine care for the students and staff comes across in everything she does, and our school is blessed to have her.
LAZY LANCER NIGHT
