The Riverwalk Roar
September 22, 2019
Note from Dr. Compton
Pride,
I do have an important message below, but I want to start with a shout out this week. Parents, my shout out is to you. The manner in which you all communicate your stress and frustrations about the school, and about each other should be commended. Like I've mentioned before, we're One Pride and we're all in this together. You all know that we (staff and administrators) are accessible and that we appreciate hearing from you when you have a question, comment, or frustration to share. You know that social media isn't the place to air grievances. You also know that we all (staff and parents) are human and we make mistakes.
On more of a serious note, on Tuesday, we are going to test our emergency communication system. Around 9:45 am, we will be conducting a fire drill (similarly to how we do each month). However, with this drill, we will be sending out an emergency alert message and text.
How we communicate with you on Tuesday during this drill will be the same in case of a real emergency.
Phone Call -
Using the emergency numbers in Powerschool (our student information system), you will receive a phone call from the school notifying you of the drill. In the event of an actual emergency, this call would contain instructions such as the reunification plan (time and location where your child can be picked up). This call will be repeated 15 minutes later.
Text Message -
Same as above, using the numbers in PowerSchool, a text will be sent out notifying you of the drill. In a real emergency, the text message would relay additional instruction
It is of the utmost importance to notify us if your phone number, address, or emergency contact information changes.
If you do not receive a voice message on Tuesday, if you have questions, or need to change your emergency numbers in Powerschool, please contact Ms. Mabey.
Lions, on behalf of the staff, I hope each of you has a great week!
