1 year!
of switching to safer!
One year ago today I decided to join hands with the company Beautycounter ♥
Here's why...
It's no secret we travel for Brock's job- year after year...after year (9 years in total so far, but hey who's counting!)- I found myself a company that I can proudly represent- work very hard at- learn- promote- and help contribute to our family - from just about anywhere!
I also had my own run-in with a very scary health issue just over a year ago. We found a pretty sizable nerve-sheath tumor (shwannoma) in my right forearm- and I had to undergo months and months of testing before I found out it was (THANK GOD) a benign tumor. If it was malignant however- it would have been one of the most aggressive forms of cancer to have and the outcome might not have been very good.
This was a big wake up call for myself and Brock. We were eating relatively healthy- but if I'm being honest- our house turned into a chemical warfare zone- from my skin care routine to our cleaning supplies- to our plug-ins, hand soaps, products loaded (with more than any person needs) chemicals everywhere...so we both decided to start making the switch to safer products.
The big 'switch' has been something we do relatively easily and it's actually been empowering to learn about different chemicals and make the conscious decision to use or eliminate them from our household- as opposed to before when I just plain didn't consider it. It's been a year and I am still always learning and we by no means claim to be perfect- we are a work in progress.
I respect all people and their own right to make choices- so I do not want anyone to feel like they ever need to 'buy' a product from me- or I am 'mom-guilting' ladies into thinking about a safer choice for their children. It's simply something that I am very passionate about now- the more I learn the more I will share.
In our household Brock is very much our 'bread winner' I am so very grateful to him and the things he has accomplished in his very long professional hockey career and what he does to provide for our family. He has been so unbelievably supportive and proud of me for taking this on with Beautycounter. I didn't sign on with this company for the paycheck, I signed on to support the ladies that I love that were already with Beautycounter and I joined to spread the information about product safety to those I love.
I have made so many healthy, adult friendships where we equally support and cheer each other's accomplishments on- it's a work environment unique to anything else I have found- a mission that is very real and impactful and I am proud to be a part of the changes they are making happen in the world!
Thank you to everyone that has supported me over the last year- it really means the world ♥
