FJVD Weekly Info

We Live the Word!

From the Principal's Desk

Dear Father Doyle Families,

What a blessing it was to see the gym once again filled with families for our first Prayer Service of the year yesterday! As one family described it to me, "it's the perfect way to start the day." In visiting our classrooms over the past two days, it's been wonderful to see students filled with joy to be once again learning and growing alongside their friends. Please join me in praying for an exceptional year ahead!

As discussed in our Back to School Night presentation, we will be starting a new Virtues in Practice program here at the school. For a complete overview of the program, click here. In addition, here are the details and information for this month:

Virtue of the Month: Faith - believing in God and all He has revealed.

Saint(s) of the Month:

  • PK-2: St. Martha
  • 3-5: St. Jerome
  • 6-8: St. Augustine

Home Projects for the Month of September:

Home projects are broken down by grade level groupings. These are not required and rarely involve a material project, but rather include an opportunity to discuss and practice the virtues as a family. You can find the home projects for the Month of September here. You can find all of this information in our "Virtue Corner" below, which will feature in every Newsletter!

A reminder that teachers will be discussing and reviewing the virtue of the month and saint of the month during religion instruction. In addition, at the end of the month we will recognize our "VIP" (Virtues in Practice) student award winners for those students who particularly demonstrated and lived out the virtues throughout the month. Looking forward to the fruits of this new program!

Parish Children's Choir Information

As Fr. Woolley mentioned at the Back to School Night, Ss. John and Paul Parish’s Music Director (and FJVD Parent), Dr. Kirsten Mitak, will be starting up the Parish Children’s Choir in a few weeks!

The SSJP Parish Children’s Choir is open to all children Grades 1 to 8; No musical experience needed, just a love for singing and the ability to read lyrics. Weekly Wednesday rehearsals will begin September 14 from 5-5:45pm in the Choir Loft of the Church. Choir members coming from after care will be walked from class to rehearsal by a trusted adult (when this occurs, parents will be charged for a 5pm after care dismissal, and pick up their child at the Church at 5:45pm).

The SSJP Children's Choir will sing for the 11:30am mass on October 9, for the first Sunday of each month (Nov-May) and for the Christmas Eve Vigil Mass at 5pm. Those interested in joining the Parish Children’s Choir, please fill out the registration form here. For more info please contact Kirsten Mitak at kirstenmitak@yahoo.com.

Please note that the Parish Children’s Choir is distinct from Mrs. Gagnon’s School Choir, which will sing at monthly school Masses and other liturgies and events, and will be meeting Thursday afternoons immediately after dismissal. More info on how to register for the School Choir in the weeks to come!

Thank you!

A very special thank you to the Kenyon family and Dan Kenyon Masonry for installing the crushed stone edging along the back of our multi-sport court (see photo below). This will prevent balls and other equipment from rolling under the fence and improves the overall appearance and safety of the court. We're so grateful for your time and expertise!

Squadlocker Link

Lastly, a quick note that unfortunately, the link on the website and QR code for SquadLocker that you received in your folders needed to be changed. Here is the new link for the website and the link online has been updated: SquadLocker. A reminder that all items under "Essential Gear" are uniform approved!

Don't forget to keep reading below for more news and information!

Have a great weekend! God bless, and Go Saints!

Sincerely,

Mr. Peloquin
