Equity Council Update
November 2018
A Summary of our Work
The Equity Council continues its journey of deepening its knowledge on issues surrounding equity through ongoing conversations. On November 7, the committee met to discuss how to move forward with our learning as a district. We discussed comments and concerns raised by the staff after the October in-service. These were rich discussions focused on issues with celebrating holidays, how to collect data on microaggressions that are occurring at Logan and how to respond to those instances, and how to share their learning with the rest of the staff in a meaningful way. In addition to the Equity Council, the Culturally Responsive Curriculum Committee continues to do important work on making our curriculum more inclusive. The Council enjoyed looking at books recently added to the libraries that are representative of many cultures, races, religions, sexual orientations, and learning abilities--be sure to check them out! We are excited for our February in-service day, please check out the "What would you say?" videos at the bottom of this newsletter!
