Week of 10/26 - 10/30

Halloween Costumes

Students will be able to wear their Halloween costumes to school on Monday, November 2nd as part of our "Red Ribbon Week" festivities (see below). Students should not wear costumes to school on Friday 10/30.

Red Ribbon Week

Students are getting ready for Red Ribbon Week 2020 – this year’s theme is: Be Happy. Be Brave. Be Drug Free. At school, students will engage in activities that promote a drug free and healthy lifestyle. Please partner with us and discuss this message at home, at the dinner table, at family outings, and with friends and extended family. Ask your child what they know and have learned at school about Red Ribbon Week. We will also have a contest throughout the duration of Red Ribbon Week for the classes that have the MOST participation. So, please encourage your students to participate. Let’s get CREATIVE!! Also, we will be handing out Red Ribbon Week themed gifts. If students display/use their gifts throughout the week, their names will be entered in a raffle to win other Red Ribbon Week PRIZES!!

Spirit Week info is below!!

Car Line Reminders

We would like to share a few car line tips/reminders as we begin to have more students at school each day! As we must screen each student, these are a few tips to help us get students to class as quickly as possible.

* Please have your students ready to get out of the car when it is time. Having them ready with their bookbag/lunchbox, etc. is very helpful!

* If students ride in booster seats please work to have them learn how to operate their buckles!

* Parents should remain in the car at all times

School Dismissal Manager

As a reminder, all dismissal changes are to be made through the app. Changes can be made until 2:15.

Please also be sure that you had established a default dismissal. Once this is done, no changes need to be made to the program unless you have a change in dismissal. This would then be set as an exception!

This app will soon be used to assist us with our car line. Parents will use the app to "check in" when they get to the car line! A Scoop will be sent out with instructions before that process begins.

If you have not received an email from SDM, please e-mail Amanda.Reopelle@Onslow.k12.nc.us

Thanks so much! We are looking forward to using this program!

Bus Transportation

Bus routes/information are available on the Onslow County Schools website. Please check it out for route times, etc! We may see some routes doubled up coming soon - this site will give you the most up to date information and times! There is also an app that you can dowload for updates.

Face coverings are required at all times on the school bus.

School Nutrition Information

OCS has been notified that the USDA summer nutrition program waiver allowing school systems to provide free meals has been extended until December 31. This means that until December 31, every school-age child 18 years or younger who lives in Onslow County will be eligible to receive meals while in school, or from any of our Student Nutrition Hub sites, at no cost.

We encourage our families to apply for Free/Reduced lunch so that the application is processed before the waiver ends.
