What does Middle School Partners Look like at Poe MS?
Poe Middle School Partners Program
This year at Poe MS we have 25 middle school partners that are working on high school credit. The class is a class full of talented students that are in football, mariachis, and other programs here at POE MS. Two of the traditional Middle School Partner students are also taking AP Spanish. The students are in a class for two class periods and work on their health credit through Edgenuity. The students are provided with the tools necessary to be successful and given opportunities to have extra time on the program. We are already planning our first college field trip in conjunction with Middle School Partners at Lowell MS.
8th Grade Bridge Program
Poe MS is also bridging 7th grade students into 8th grade. There are 14 8th grade bridge students at Poe MS that started their 7th grade course work at the beginning of summer this past school year and also participated in the 2 week summer Master Camp session at the beginning of the school year. The students are well bonded and have spent a lot of time getting to know each other and their teacher, Mrs. PinDell. Ms Shonebarger, CIS at Poe MS is also present during this class time and is a huge asset to our class time!
6th Grade Bridge Students
At Poe Middle School we have a class designed to help our over aged 6th graders move into eighth grade next school year. In this picture above you can see the diverse group enjoying a team building activity with our CIS Ms Shonebarger. In this class we have sixth graders, and several eighth graders that assist as mentors, pals and teacher assistants! This class has a lot of diversity and personality!
AP Spanish at Poe MS!!!
This year POE Middle School has an AP Spanish Class!
The students were selected in partnership with Mr. Serrano, the Spanish teacher at Poe MS. The class is made up of 12 students that are taking Pre-AP Spanish, and then will take AP Spanish through Edgenuity. The students will then Take AP Spanish Language and Culture exam in May. This is a lot of work for the students and the students have to stay focused and on track to meet their goal!
