Greetings, Ride Families!
I would like to start the beginning of the new semester by recognizing our Sally K. Ride Challengers for their hard work that went into making the first half of the year be so smooth and successful. What a great year it has been so far. Your children have been working very hard and it has been fun to watch them grow and improve over the last semester.
How are we ever going to top 2022? We have such an incredible staff and loving supportive parents. It makes being a teacher such a joy when coming to work each day is a treasure.
With a new month comes our next Character Trait, Inclusion. Inclusion, in the elementary sense, is about including others and making people feel welcome. It is about being nice and kind to others. We also use this time to welcome our new students. We encourage the kids to help them learn the routines in the classroom, lunchroom, and play with them at recess.
I Love Ride and I Love the way everyone helps one another.
Report Cards for the 2nd Nine Weeks will come home on Tuesday, January 10th for PK, KN, 1st, and 2nd grade. 3rd and 4th grade will be able to access them in PAC.
We are looking forward to an incredible 2023!!
# We SHOW Inclusion, We SHOW Kindness, We SHOW Citizenship, We ARE Responsible, #We ARE Respectful, #We ARE Challengers!
Lost and Found Items
As we have cool mornings and warmer afternoons, we have noticed an increase in jackets and coats in the lost and found. Please remember to write your child’s name in their outerwear items and have them check the lost and found, located at the end of each grade level hallway. We tend to get many items left over, and I know these items easily get lost during transition or recess times. Please feel free to stop in after school if you would like to look for some lost items!
CISD Western Art Show
PE would like to help you kick off your fitness goals and connect with your Challenger! You are invited to participate in Drum Fit on January 12 or 13. Please wear school appropriate exercise attire.
Drum Fit is for ALL fitness and ability levels. The heart pumping, cross curricular, smile-inducing fun will release those stress-relieving endorphins and build memories between you and your child. https://tinyurl.com/SKRDF

Due to limited seating in the cafeteria, we are offering two options for lunch signups. You will have the opportunity to sign up to eat in the cafeteria with your child or outside in our gazebo/picnic table area. You will not be able to change locations after signup is complete. If you sign up to eat outside and it rains, you will be unable to move into the building due to limited seating. You may sign up for another day/time.
Each slot is available for two adults and the child you are eating lunch with..
Please see the schedule below for designated grade level lunch visitor’s days. Make sure that you sign up under the correct time slot for your child’s lunchtime. Each student may have a lunch visitor once every 3.5-week period. This ensures every parent has an opportunity to sign up. Remember to bring a valid id when you visit the building.
Due to limited seating in the cafeteria, we are asking all parents with small children to eat outside in the gazebo area.
