Islamic Medicine

Muslims made some of their most important contributions to medicine
Muslim doctors established the world's first hospitals. Anyone who needed medical treatment could come and get free care, paid by the government. Many hospitals served as training centers for doctors.
Operation and Medicine
Muslim doctors gave patients remidies made from herbs, plants, animals, and minerals. Pharmacists made hundreds of medications to dull pain or fight infection. Antiseptics were used to clean the wound and ointments helped the wounds to heal. Drugs such as Opium and Hemlock were used to put patients to sleep before operations. And after surgery doctors used animal gut to stitch up wounds.
How it impacts our world today
They came up with hospitals and medicines that we still use today. We also use some of the operating procedures that the Muslim doctors used.
