WEEKLY WONDERS

Charles Ellis Montessori Academy, Week of December 12, 2022

Big picture

"The child has a different relation to his environment from ours...the child absorbs it. The things he sees are not just remembered; they form part of his soul. He incarnates in himself all in the world about that his eyes see and his ears hear." -Dr. Maria Montessori

Congratulations on a job well done to these Ellis Upper Elementary students!

As the winter holiday approaches, we wanted to thank everyone for the massive support of our Angel Tree project. In classrooms, we've been working with all students on personal responsibility. Read more in our December newsletter.

Grace & Courtesy Emphasis

Throughout the school year, Ellis has a school-wide focus on specific positive character traits. Each teacher may choose to highlight these "Grace & Courtesy" emphases differently, but as a school we follow a general common curriculum.

From November 28th-December 16th, our school-wide Grace & Courtesy emphasis is TRUST & HONESTY.

The language for identifying/naming TRUST & HONESTY in "The Self-Awakened Child" series by Jonathan Wolff:

Trust

  • When I say to myself, "I know I can learn to do this" -- even if it's something that is very hard for me to do-- I am Trusting myself.
  • When someone promises me something and I feel sure they will keep their promise, I am Trusting them.
  • When I do what I promise I will do, I am acting with Trust.

Honesty

  • When I tell myself the truth about what I think, how I feel or what I did, I am being Honest.
  • When I tell someone the truth about what I think, how I feel or what I did, I am being Honest.
