Charles Ellis Montessori Academy, Week of December 12, 2022

Big picture

"The child has a different relation to his environment from ours...the child absorbs it. The things he sees are not just remembered; they form part of his soul. He incarnates in himself all in the world about that his eyes see and his ears hear." -Dr. Maria Montessori

Top Ranked Stock Market Game Team

Congratulations on a job well done to these Ellis Upper Elementary students!

This team of students in Mr. William's 6th grade GEP class are the top ranked team (#1 in SCCPSS Elementary/K-8 schools and #2 in SCCPSS overall) in the GCEE's Stock Market Game.

There will be an online awards ceremony next week, and they have been invited to attend a reception for in-person recognition in the Spring at Atlanta's Fox Theater.

Excellent work, Bobcats!

Making Marks: A Community Exhibition

Congratulations to two Ellis Erdkinder (8th Grade) students, Hattie S. and Lucy P., whose art work was selected to be a part of the Making Marks Exhibition at the Jepson Center.

Grace & Courtesy Emphasis

Throughout the school year, Ellis has a school-wide focus on specific positive character traits. Each teacher may choose to highlight these "Grace & Courtesy" emphases differently, but as a school we follow a general common curriculum.

From November 28th-December 16th, our school-wide Grace & Courtesy emphasis is TRUST & HONESTY.

The language for identifying/naming TRUST & HONESTY in "The Self-Awakened Child" series by Jonathan Wolff:

  • When I say to myself, "I know I can learn to do this" -- even if it's something that is very hard for me to do-- I am Trusting myself.
  • When someone promises me something and I feel sure they will keep their promise, I am Trusting them.
  • When I do what I promise I will do, I am acting with Trust.

  • When I tell myself the truth about what I think, how I feel or what I did, I am being Honest.
  • When I tell someone the truth about what I think, how I feel or what I did, I am being Honest.
