National School Counseling Week Feb. 7-11, 2022
Gr. 9-12
National School Counseling Week will take place this year during the week of February 7-11. This year's theme is "School Counseling: Better Together". On Wednesday, February 9th, the Guidance Department will be holding a virtual assembly for all students grades 9-12 during period 9. Ken Bartolo, from There and Back Inc., will be presenting "Athletes Against Addiction", a presentation about Ken's life as a professional athlete and the struggles he went through while experiencing, and then overcoming, addiction.
We invite all students, faculty, and staff at Bellport High School to participate in this event by clicking on the banner above. Selected answers will be displayed around the building. Responses must be received no later than noon on Wednesday, February 2nd to be included.
Annual Individual Progress Review/Scheduling Meetings
Grades 9-11
Each student received an electronic invitation by email to attend their Annual Individual Progress Review/Scheduling meeting. Students can check their SouthCountry account Google Calendar to view their upcoming appointment. The purpose of this meeting is to review the student’s educational progress and to develop their college and career plans. Students will select their 2022-2023 course requests.
Bellport High School Local Scholarship Application for Seniors

In January of senior year, Bellport High School encourages seniors to complete one Bellport High School Local Scholarships application online to earn scholarships from local businesses and organizations looking to award money to Bellport High School graduates. The completed application is due to the Bellport High School Main Office by the first week in March of senior year to be considered.
The local scholarship application for BHS seniors will be online and will be open 1/10/2022 - 3/7/2022. The link to the local scholarship for BHS seniors will be posted here when it is available. Junior College Planning Night
Grade 11

Juniors and their parents/guardians are invited to a presentation on the college planning process. Information on the college application process including what colleges look for, the SAT and ACT exams, letters of recommendation, college visits, and the college search will be discussed. This information is presented in preparation for each junior being invited to an individual Junior Planning Conference with their School Counselor in the spring.
Junior College Planning Virtual Assembly for Juniors
Grade 11
Juniors will attend a virtual assembly in class on the college planning process. PreACT for Sophomores
Grade 10
Pre-registration deadline 3/18/2022
The Pre-ACT will be virtual for 10th graders. The exam will open for pre-registered sophomores on April 7th and will end on Friday, April 22nd. Students who register will be emailed instructions for taking the test on April 7that the email they signed up with.
The last day to sign up to take the Pre-ACT will be on March 18, 2022.
It will be completely virtual and instructions will be emailed on April 7, 2022. You will have two weeks to complete it. After you submit your exam, you will receive a detailed score report that will help you prepare for your upcoming college admissions tests.

College Fairs and College Visits
In addition to the in-person college and career fairs offered at Bellport High School for our students in the gymnasium during the school day on September 30th, 2021, and March 29th, 2021, the Guidance Office offers various opportunities for our students to connect with college admissions representatives live online. Students have an opportunity throughout the school year to register and participate in virtual college fairs and virtual college visits.

BHS Virtual College Visits
Colleges are offering virtual meetings for Bellport High School students to meet with admissions representatives in small groups. You must register online in advance to participate in these virtual meetings. Please follow these steps to register through your Naviance account. Check back as meetings are added throughout the school year:
- Log into your Naviance account. Please contact your counselor if you are using a new email address for your college applications and need to update your Naviance account or if you need to reset your Naviance password.
- In Naviance, click on the Colleges tab at the top of the page.
- Select College Visits from the drop-down menu.
- When you see a college you are considering, click on the View Details to the right of the college. Here you will need to click the link to register for this virtual meeting.
CUNY Virtual Information Sessions
The City University of New York (CUNY) is the nation’s largest urban public university and is located in New York City. CUNY has 25 colleges spread across New York City’s five boroughs.
Students can learn more about CUNY by registering online to attend a virtual information session or by exploring which CUNY.
SUNY Virtual Information Sessions
The State University of New York (SUNY) is the public college system in New York State. SUNY offers 64 institutions, including research universities, academic medical centers, liberal arts colleges, community colleges, colleges of technology, and an online learning network.
Students can learn more about SUNY by registering online to attend a virtual Information Session, by exploring the tools on Which SUNY, and by requesting a SUNY Viewbook.
Transcript and Records Requests
Parents/guardians may access their child's academic records on the ParentPortal. The ParentPortal is not managed by the Guidance Office. For assistance with the ParentPortal, please contact parentportal@southcountry.org or call 631-730-1511.
Bellport High School current students may access their academic records on the StudentPortal or by contacting the Guidance Office.
Bellport High School graduates and alumni will need to complete this online form to request a copy of their transcript and records. Please allow at least 10 business days for this request to be completed.

Working Papers
Ages 14 - 17
For students ages 14 to 17 who need New York State Working Papers:
- Please follow these instructions
- Complete Part 1 only at the top of this form and have your parent/guardian sign it
- Bring this form to the School Nurse or your Physician to be completed, signed, and stamped
- Return completed forms to the Guidance Office. Your working card will be issued within 3 business days. You will need to sign for and pick up your working card in person in the Guidance Office.

Guidance Google Classrooms
Every student at BHS is invited to join the grade level Guidance Google Classroom corresponding to the year that their class is expected to graduate to receive important information throughout the school year.
