The Rise & Fall of Ernest Hemingway
The Gist Of Things
Location
Hemingway resided in Florida, where his house was one of the first to have running water, as well as Cuba, where he frequently visited bullfighting competitions to release his tension. He also briefly lived in a home in Idaho with his last wife, where he committed suicide.
Marriages & Descendants
Hemingway was married a total of four times. In these, (usually brief, passing from one to another), marriages, he conceived three children, named Jack, Patrick, and Gloria Hemingway. Two of Jack's daughters, Mariel and Margaux Hemingway reached stardom through the acting career. Almost exactly 35 years after her grandfather's suicide, Margaux became the fifth person in four generations of her family to commit suicide.
Legacy
Hemingway's style of writing was always critically judged by others. It did not follow the traditional 'American' way of journalism. Many other authors tried to avoid his straight-forward sentences, but the trend was contagious. Hemingway took the cake for the figure head for the post-World War I generation, and still to this day is a major contributor to stylizing of new literature.
Childhood
As a child, Hemingway's mother would dress him as a girl, as she had wanted a daughter.
Hobbies
Throughout his lifetime, Hemingway was a hunting enthusiast. He also was a fisherman.
