Sacred Heart Weekly Update

October 18, 2021

From the Principal

I want everyone to be aware that I am teaching language arts full time in the middle school until we hire someone for the position. Please pray that we find a great candidate soon. I feel it is in the students' best interest that I step in at this time. I am enjoying teaching on the lower floor. We have great middle school students and they are a joy to teach.

With being said, please be patient through this process. I may not answer your phone calls and emails right away as my focus will be on teaching, planning and grading. I am blessed to have such a great staff. They are jumping in to support me and each other by picking up some extra duties. Spread the news that we are hiring. Many of our teachers have found out about positions at Sacred Heart Catholic School through word of mouth.

If you need help with Educate, hot lunch, or TADS, please contact Sarah Bowback.

Halloween Parties-October 29th

We decided not to have our all-school Halloween party in the gym. Each classroom will celebrate Halloween in their classroom. Watch for teacher announcements about costumes, treats, and volunteer help.

Because our Halloween parties will be on Friday, October 29th, our students will not attend mass since many will be in costume. We will attend mass on Tuesday, November 2nd for All Souls' Day and Friday, November 5th for our normal Friday mass.

We are a certified Believe & Read School

Congratulations to Sacred Heart Catholic School on becoming a certified Believe & Read School. We want to recognize our PreK-3 teachers for their hard work the last two years. They have spent a great deal of time learning the curriculum, looking at data and meeting monthly for professional development with our Groves coach. Our teachers are putting literacy in the forefront of preparing students for success!

As we begin year 3, Ms. Mary Byrne is training this year to be our in-house literacy coach. We are proud to hang our certification in the school.

Living Rosary

On Friday, our middle schoolers led our school in a living rosary. Students with red shirts represented the beads on the rosary for the Hail Mary prayer and the white shirts represented the beads for the Our Father and Glory Be prayers. This was a great visual for our younger students as they prayed along using their own rosary. We were so proud of how reverent the students were during this service.

October is the month of the rosary that includes the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. We encourage you to pray the rosary at home as a family.
