October's Rockets of the Month

Winter Assistance
It is hard to believe that the winter months are quickly approaching. Every year Hoosier Road offers support to students and their families to help make these next few months a little warmer and their winter break more joyful. This year, in an effort to ensure that we are supporting all of our students through the winter months, we are reaching out to all of our Hoosier Road families for help. If you are in need of support this season or if you are interested in supporting a family this year, please click the link below and answer the questions accordingly. Please be sure to complete this form by the end of the day on Friday, November 4th.

Leftover Halloween Candy?
Once again, Hoosier Road Elementary School students are invited to donate their extra Halloween candy to our troops overseas. With Veterans Day right around the corner, this is a perfect way for HRE students to recognize those who have sacrificed so much for our country's freedom by "sacrificing" some of their Halloween candy. All types of wrapped, store-bought candy will be accepted. Please send your extra candy to school anytime from Tuesday, November 1st - Friday, November 4th.

HRE's Lantern Walk is November 6th
In 2018 three Hoosier Road teachers planned a lantern walk to bring their classes together and celebrate daylight savings time ending. The idea came from tinkergarten.com. Please visit https://pages.tinkergarten.com/lantern-walk-2021/ to learn more about this.
Join us for our annual Lantern Walk tradition to brighten and embrace the darkness of winter together!
The week before we were to do our walk, one of the three teachers tragically died. In her honor, the other two classes decided to complete the walk - rain or shine. And it rained that night!! Kristal Sergi was a wonderful, dedicated teacher and amazing human being. She had worked at Hoosier Road since 2001 therefore taught hundreds of children throughout her career here. We have set up a $500 scholarship in her name awarded to a senior pursuing higher education in the area of service. To fund this annual scholarship we have decided to have an annual lantern walk. Due to covid the past few years, we have been unable to have the walk the way we would have liked. This year... it’s back!!!! Please look for more information to come home with your child on how to register for our 4th annual Lantern Walk. Our walk begins at 5:45 on November 6, 2022 at the back of the school. Please park in the front lot and walk around the side of the building by the woods. Lanterns may be purchased for $10. Thank you for supporting the memory of one of our own.

Parent Teacher Conferences
Veterans Day Program
Hoosier Road's much anticipated annual Veterans Day Program will be held in the gym on Thursday, November 10th at 9:00AM. Doors will open at 8:45 AM for the performance . Please enter through Door 10 (near the gym). Our first through fourth graders will all be performing. Due to space limitations, we are asking that only one parent per participating student attend; sorry, no siblings. However, if you would like to bring a veteran or someone currently serving in our armed forces as a special guest, they are welcome and encouraged to attend.
To speed up the entrance process and help with seating, there will be two lines located at the gym door (exit 10) -- one for parents with veterans and one for parents only. This is considered a public event so no background checks will be required.
Our first through fourth graders are very excited to celebrate Veterans Day through singing, reading and honoring those who have served our country so that we may enjoy all of our freedoms.
