Falls Mill Field Trips
April 15th (Brown and Geis)
"Water Power and Pioneers"
This trip consists of a tour through a historical grist mill built in 1873, highlighting the use of water power. Students explore what life was like for pioneers traveling west, including sluicing for minerals and participating in a "Pioneer Adventure" activity. A gift shop is available.
Buses will depart at approximately 8:15am and arrive back at school at approximately 2:00pm. Students will need a sack lunch. Permission forms will go home soon.

WHAT WE ARE LEARNING THIS WEEK
ELA:
1. RI.4.2-Determine the main idea of a text and explain how it is supported by key details; summarize the text
2. RI.4.3-Explain events, procedures, ideas, or concepts in a historical, scientific, or technical text, including what happened and why, based on specific information in the text.
3. W.4.8-Recall relevant information from experiences or gather relevant information from print and digital sources; take notes and categorize information, and provide a list of sources.
4. W.4.10-Write routinely over extended time frames, including time for research, reflection, and revision, and shorter time frames such as a single sitting or a day or two for a range of discipline-specific tasks, purposes, and audiences.
Refer to assignment sheet for spelling list.
MATH:
4.MD.6-Measure angles in whole-number degrees using a protractor. Sketch angles of specified measure.
4.MD.7-Recognize angle measure as additive. When an angle is decomposed into non-overlapping parts, the angle measure of the whole is the sum
of the angle measures of the parts. Solve addition and subtraction problems to find unknown angles on a diagram in real world and mathematical problems, e.g., by using an equation with a symbol for the unknown angle measure.
4.G.1-Draw points, lines, line segments, rays, angles (right, acute, obtuse), and perpendicular and parallel lines. Identify these in two-dimensional figures.
4.G.2-Classify two-dimensional figures based on the presence or absence of parallel or perpendicular lines, or the presence or absence of angles of a specified size. Recognize right triangles as a category, and identify right triangles.
