The New Kids
At Riverlog Middle School two new kids came to the school for 8th grade year, they arrived after winter break. They were brothers, Alex and Matt. On the first day of school Matt was sick and only Alex could go to school, this made Alex feel even more nervous. "Are you sure you aren't feeling better?" Alex asked the whole morning before school. Alex's mom drove him up to the school, "Bye!" his mom shouted. Jeez mom be a little quieter, Alex thought.
He looked at his schedule, first hour gym it said. When he walked into to the locker room, one kid yelled at him "You ready to lose in basketball loser!" Alex stayed quiet. He switched into his gym clothes and walked on to the court, and of course he was the last one to get picked. He wasn't overweight, he didn't look like he was a good basketball player though. No one passed the ball to him the whole game, but then in the last five seconds of the game when the his team was down by one, he intercepted the opposing teams pass on the other side of the court. With only five seconds left he couldn't run down to the basket and make a layup. He dribbled up to the half court and shot the ball right at the before the buzzer. The ball flew threw the air from out of his hands. Swoosh! It went perfectly through the net. He won the game for his team, the kid that yelled at him stormed off into the locker room. From then on he was the first to be picked in gym class.
