Greetings AES Families!
Welcome Spring! Over the past two weeks classes have been enjoying ski days at Buttermilk and xc-skiing on campus. We are making plans for our spring Outdoor Education Programs. Information will be coming out from teachers about this amazing opportunities. Thank you parents and guardians for chaperoning. We couldn't do it without you.
This week the Aspen Art Museum brought the Andy Warhol presentation to our students through a presentation in the district theater. Students also created thier own original pieces of art to express peace. Artwork is displayed in the main hallway of the school. (One class' work pictured right).
This summer the campus will be under construction. At the elementary school improvements will include front office and entry redesign for safety and security, new flooring throughout the building and replacement windows. We anticipate closing our doors when school ends and completing the projects by the opening of school.
I hope that Spring Break is a joyous time for you and your children whether you travel or stay close to home. Please encourage your child to read at least 20 minutes per day! You might also encourage your child to complete the Spring Break Bingo. You might consider providing an special incentive for your child for completing 5 in a row, 10 activitites and or the entire board! In addition, students who return their Spring Break Bingo Boards SIGNED BY A PARENT/CAREGIVER will earn a special pencil. Have fun!
All my best,
Ashley Bodkins

SUBS NEEDED!!
Does your child ride the bus?
Bus Passes and Bus Changes:
If you need a new bus pass or want your child to catch a different bus home than usual, please visit the Transportation homepage. Links to the Bus Pass Replacement Form and the Bus Change Request Form can be found there. Students will not be allowed on a bus if they are not registered for a bus, and we will not be accepting handwritten notes or text messages from parents allowing students to ride a different bus.
As most of you know, there is a shortage of bus drivers and sporadically bus routes have to be cancelled. Please discuss a backup plan with your child for these scenarios. Sharing this plan with your child's teacher is always a good idea!

Aspen Elementary SKIERS
At AES our essential agreements guide the way we behave and interact with others throughout our school in every setting. This year, we've adopted the SKIER acronym as a way to frame our essential agreements school wide. We hope that you will reinforce these positive attributes with your child at home.
