Dublin Grizzell Middle School
January 29th
Principal's Message
As we finish up our last week of January with typical Ohio weather :(, we have several areas of focus on the horizon.
1. Our 8th graders completed the PSAT this week and began to explore possible options for their high school schedule. Please reach out to your student's teacher or guidance counselor as questions come up.
2. Our 6th and 7th grade hybrid students will be taking the Winter MAP assessment on Thursday and Friday of this week.
3. Middle School families were emailed their school placement for the 2021/2022 school year. Those students who will be changing schools next year should have received a letter from their future principal. Those students who will be transitioning to Eversole Run next year will have to wait until the principal is selected later this winter.
4. As we wrap up our winter sports season this week, I want to say congratulations to our wrestling team and "good luck" to all 4 basketball teams as they begin tournament play this weekend. It hasn't been a typical season, but personally, I'll take what I can get right now.5. GMS Spring Sport information is updated on the GMS Athletics Website. Please use this LINK to find this information.
6. The first night of winter parent/teacher conferences will take place on Thursday, February 18th. These conferences are a way to further communication and support for students, and strengthening the partnership between GMS and home. For middle school conferences, we do not meet to discuss every student, but rather those that the school team feels would need additional pieces of support or for those students whose families have reached out with a need to conference. Team leaders will reach out directly to any student's family they would like to request a meeting with. If you wish to request a time slot, please work with the team leader to schedule a time that works for both parties. Please see the schedule below fo nights and times.
* Thursday, February 18th from 3:30 - 7:00 (Hybrid Only)
* Wednesday, February 24 from 4-7:30 (RLA only, this is a Karrer conference night, however since many of our RLA staff teach in both environments, we are sharing this event with KMS)
* Thursday, March 4th from 3:30 - 7:00 (Hybrid and RLA students)
Have a great weekend.
Andy

Middle School Career Education Update
The week of February 22nd we are hosting 8th grade Career Week at all Dublin middle schools. Welcome Warehouse Information
Great news! The City of Dublin awarded Welcome Warehouse a grant from its Coronavirus Relief Fund. This grant will help families in the DCS district who are facing a financial crisis due to Covid-19.
If you know of a family having difficulty making ends meet, we may be able to lift a burden from their shoulders. Below are examples of bills we can help pay. Others would also be considered.
- Utilities bills (electric, gas, water, phone)
- Medical (special equipment, prescriptions etc)
- Transportation (bus passes, gas cards, car payment, insurance)
- Food (gift cards)
- No rent or mortgage assistance
Although we cannot help with mortgage or rent, Dublin Bridges was also awarded money from this same fund specifically for Covid related rent and mortgage assistance.
Attached HERE is the new application for Emergency Household Assistance.
As a reminder, Welcome Warehouse has a $700 limit or 3x in their lifetime request whichever comes first. Since you know the families best, we rely on you to make sure they are well vetted and have a true need. If so, please have the families submit the completed application AND a copy of their bill(s) to executivedirector@welcomewarehouse.org.
Together we can help DCS families in need.
