Black Hills
The Black Hills are located in the Western to the Southwestern part of South Dakota. It got it's name because the Lakota Sioux saw Black Hills throughout the 1.2 million acres of the National Forest. It includes many activities to do and is great for family vacations. They have the Mount Rushmore Monument, hiking, tours, and more to do! They have about 13 mountains or peaks available to look at.
Mount Rushmore
Mount Rushmore National Monument is located in the Black Hills. It was finally completed in 1927. There were around 400 workers working on it throughout the 14 years it took to carve. Gutzon Borglum was the original creator. The monument was named after Charles E. Rushmore, who was an attourney that was at the site on business.

This all-day event in the Black Hills are like most other celebrations of our country, except a few more exciting events. There are ice cream socials, food vendors, cook-offs, car shows, and much more. The best part is that it's all located right in the Black Hills.
