A Message from Our Principal
In today’s Prayer Service, we lit (battery tea light) the second candle of the Advent Wreath. We heard how John the Baptist helped to prepare the way for Jesus. As we journey through this Second Week in Advent, we ask God to help us make the rough places smooth so that we may welcome Jesus into our hearts and homes.
There is an Advent Family Prayer that will be attached. I encourage you to pray the simple prayer with your children each night so that you all may appreciate the season of Advent and make way for the Lord’s birth.
CHRISTMAS CONCERT –Thursday, December 13 in Scantlin Hall. All Band students (grades 4 – 8) should be in their seats ready to rehearse no later than 5:30pm. Grades 4-8 will wear their school red polo shirts, blue pants or skirt/jumper, and a Santa hat.
PK3 – 3 students will meet in the cafeteria no later than 6pm. They should be dressed in their best Christmas outfits (no uniforms).
Our National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is facilitating Toys for Tots fundraiser. The United States Marine Corps reserve founded this program in 1947 to help needy children receive a gift at Christmas. This week the NJHS will be accepting monetary donations. We encourage you to ask your children to work for a donation so that they learn to give. Thank you.
Please remember to have your children to school on time. Our first bell is 7:50am. Also, beginning Monday, January 7, 2019, parents will no longer be able to walk their children to class. Early childhood (PK3-Kinder) will be chaperoned to their classrooms. Additionally, if you have to pick up your child early, for any reason, you must check in at the front office. This process is part of our Diocesan safe and secure plan. Thank you for helping to make our school safe.
God of Love,
Your son, Jesus, is your greatest gift to us.
He is a sign of your Love.
Help us walk in that love during the weeks of Advent,
As we wait and prepare for his coming.
We pray in the name of Jesus, our Savior.
Amen.
Peace in Christ,
Dr. John Shreve
