Happy New Year!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Highland Catholic School has received a $26,000 grant from the Schulze Family Foundation through the Catholic Schools Center of Excellence. According to the accompanying letter, "The Catholic Schools Center of Excellence is focused on helping the 79 Catholic Pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade schools within the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis achieve academic excellence and build enrollment. We are most appreciative of you and your colleague for your dedicated service and we want to provide whatever help we can."

What a marvelous gift! Our Preschool Director Kassy Kenny and her talented staff will be busy expanding curriculum, incorporating some fun technology, aggressive marketing and even a new shade structure for our preschool playground!

We will keep you informed of our journey as we work to enhance our wonderful Preschool Program! Thanks to CSCOE for their generosity.

Letter from Sr. Mary Frances Reis, Visitation Convent in North Minneapolis regarding our Christmas Gifts to her Monastery

Dear Friends, Benefactors, and Supporters of Northside Visitation Monastery,

Words cannot begin to express the joy, peace and security you brought to our children and their families this Christmas Holiday time! No doubt you have seen via the social media that there is a certain amount of tension and insecurity in our neighborhood as a side effect of the demonstrations in the wake of Jamar Clark's death; these were held at the 4th Police Precinct in late November and early December 2015, and headed up by Black Lives Matter. (Regardless of where we stand on the issues of peace and justice that were the point of the protests, we pray that good will come of this.)

That is why the generous outreach efforts of so many across the metro area had a profound impact on our parents here who want to be able to provide for their children and grandchildren at this time of year.

If you visit our website (visitationmonasteryminneapolis.org) and/or click onto our Facebook page, you will see lots of happy neighbors and volunteers sharing the gifts YOU provided. You were there with us in spirit!

Our beloved Pope Francis has declared 2016 a Jubilee Year of Mercy. In his words, "Jesus Christ is the face of God's Mercy. Your works of kindness reflect the Mercy that God desires to pour out to all people.

May the coming year bring peace and justice to our community of North Minneapolis and to yours,

Grateful Prayer,

Sr. Mary Frances Reis, VHM
