BMES Family Weekly Update
Message from Principal Wagner
February 20, 2022
Good evening BMES Families,
During a special school board meeting last week, the York County School Board voted unanimously to adjust some of the division’s COVID-19 mitigation strategies. Beginning Tuesday, February 22, mask wearing by students will become optional while inside YCSD school buildings and offices. It is important to note that students will still be required to wear masks while on school buses in accordance with federal orders.
With masks becoming optional, administration has established expectations that the teachers and staff will focus on instruction and academics while family choice of mask wearing should be discussed at home. Please have this discussion with your child prior to school on Tuesday morning and remind your child of your expectation, mask wearing or no masks.
Students and staff should still report a positive diagnosis of COVID-19 and follow isolation guidelines. All positive COVID- 19 individuals will serve a quarantine to ensure the health and safety of the BMES community. Additionally, all students and staff should continue daily health screenings and stay home when sick to help reduce the transmission of COVID-19 and other viruses.
Just another schedule reminder- On Monday, February 21, 2022, all schools and offices are closed in observance of President's Day. There will be no school for students.
Have a wonderful evening,
Mrs. Wagner

Free Tutoring
As part of the division's efforts to address unfinished learning in accordance with the ARP Act ESSER III funds, the York County School Division has partnered with FEV Tutor to provide students in grades 3-12 with free, 1:1 online tutoring. In addition to supporting coursework and homework in core subjects such as math, English/Language Arts, science and social studies, FEV Tutor offers support for Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses.
Along with the on-demand support, FEV Tutor also offers weekly sessions between 7 and 10 p.m., Monday through Friday, and on weekends so families can select the times that work best for their schedule. To get started with e-tutoring, students should log in to Clever and locate the FEV Tutor app icon to get started. They can then schedule sessions and access live help at any time of the day.
While all support is live and personalized to each student's classes and needs, the program does not involve device cameras or microphones - instead all interactions involve a whiteboard and chat feature. Students will be able to share their screens and upload documents to review with tutors, and tutors only have access to student work provided by the individual student. Once a student is signed up for weekly sessions, FEV Tutor may periodically email families and students (aged 13 and older).
