Chase Parent Community,
I am sure that you are aware that CCSD announced that schools will be reopening on November 9, 2020 for in person instruction for students in grades PK-8. You should have received the School Re-entry Letter on Friday with the instructions for making a selection of in person or virtual instruction for your child.
While the specific details of safety protocols and the classroom environment are not yet available for your review, it is important for all Chase Families to log into your CCSD Parent Portal account and make a selection telling us whether your child will be returning to school in person or virtual. I can assure you that the safety of our students and staff are of the utmost importance to me. Our entire Chase staff will follow all guidelines provided by the school district to protect your child so I urge you to complete the registration so that we can complete our school level reopening plans. As the specific details for reopening unfold, you can alter your choice, if needed.
I have received several questions about whether your child's teacher placement will change. I definitely understand your concern for changes that may occur as it relates to your child's teacher placement. I can assure you that we would like to maintain each child's current placement, however all of these decisions will depend on the results of the School Re-entry registration. It is not our intent to make significant changes with your child's teacher placement, however, it will be based on the enrollment numbers for the students that will return in person and the number that will remain virtual at each grade level. This will, of course, drive our decisions regarding the number of teachers that will teach in person or virtual at each grade level. As soon as we receive your School Re-entry results, we will make the changes that are needed, while trying to maintain stability where we can. We appreciate your patience and understanding. I will keep you informed as I receive the district level Re-entry guidelines and updates, so I thank you for your patience and understanding. In addition, as we get closer to the November 9th opening, we will conduct a Town Hall meeting to provide specific details as it relates to our Chase school reopening.
Sincerely,
Angela Jackson

Chase Virtual Attendance Policy
As we continue to work collaboratively with our families regarding student attendance, we want you to know that attendance is extremely important as we work in a virtual environment. While we would like for your child to be present during this virtual learning period, we are providing flexibility to our families based of your individual needs. Communication with your child's teacher is key as we monitor your child's daily attendance and make accommodations as needed.
Here are the guidelines that we will follow for virtual attendance:
Students will be marked present under one of the following conditions:
The student is present for synchronous (live distance learning) instruction .
The student makes contact with the teacher through asynchronous (recordings and/or assigned digital tools) instruction or task completion within 24 hours.
Due to a lack of internet connectivity, the student completes instructional assignments provided by the teacher.
Students will be marked absent if they did not participate in synchronous or asynchronous instruction for the day.
To keep track of attendance and grades, parents please visit: https://campus.clarke.k12.ga.us/campus/portal/clarke.jsp
