Pre-Scheduling Information
Class of 2021
Scheduling for the 2019-2020 school year will begin in late January.
It's that time again! I will be going into the English classes starting next week to talk about course offerings for junior year. In preparation for our scheduling lessons, we have added a Scheduling Information page to our Counseling Website. The Career Planner and other scheduling documents are available to you on that page. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have leading up to or during the scheduling process.
GO CAPS
What is GO CAPS?
GO CAPS is a unique, yearlong learning experience that allows high school juniors and seniors to test drive future career options. Students develop real world professional skills as they are embedded in partner businesses.
GO CAPS gives students the chance to explore their interests in four areas: Engineering and Manufacturing, Entrepreneurship, Medicine and Health Care and Technology Solutions. Students attend a morning session (8-10:30 a.m.) or an afternoon session (Noon-2:30 p.m.) every day throughout the school year. These sessions also allow for dual credit opportunities through Missouri State University and Ozarks Technical Community College.

- A self-driven program--you get out of it what you put into it.
- You work with business and industry so we expect you to be professional

IS GO CAPS A TRADE SCHOOL OR CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION (CTE) PROGRAM?
No. Trade schools and Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs offer important training on specific industry skills. At GO CAPS, students deeply explore professions of interest through an immersive experience in which local and regional business partners work with highly skilled instructors to provide authentic exposure and skill acquisition in high demand high skill fields.
HAVE QUESTIONS?
Visit the GO CAPS website for additional information, or stop by the office to talk with your counselor. You may also find attending an open house in January is beneficial to your decision.
Ozarks Technical Community College Career Center
High school students begin their careers as they learn within the OTC Career Center. Juniors and seniors from area high schools earn free college credit to become college and career ready. Qualified students can earn an average of 40 hours of free college credits of career-specialized technical education programs. Plus, students participate in hands-on learning taught by local industry experts, while utilizing state-of-the-art equipment.
This immersive experience for high school students is designed to guide them toward college and career opportunities after graduation. When students attend OTC Career Center, they may work toward an Associate of Applied Science degree, a certificate of achievement or specialization in a particular field. Students interested in a particular path may finish an entire program and receive a post-secondary certificate, even prior to graduating high school while at the Career Center. Enrollment in the OTC Career Center is an excellent way for students to explore their futures, supplement courses available at their high schools, learn about careers, develop high tech skills needed in today’s global economy and workforce, and prepare for post-secondary enrollment at community college or university.
OTC Career Center students’ tuition is paid by the local high school district and does not utilize A+ Scholarship funds.
Daily Schedule: OTC Career Center students attend one of two instructional block periods scheduled Monday through Friday. The morning period begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 10:30 a.m. The afternoon period begins at 12:20 p.m. and ends at 2:50 p.m.
