January Board Recognitions
Anita Reihmann
Anita goes above and beyond for students and staff each and every day. If there is a student that needs extra instructional help, Anita always finds a way to get them extra time. She comes in early and stays late to provide extra instruction for those that need it. She even instructs in a fun way walking students back to their classroom- not a minute is wasted. Anita is also a tremendous resource for the teachers at Amana Elementary. She digs through data and research and develops procedures that make instruction easier for teachers to deliver. Anita touches those outside of her building as well. She is an instrumental part of our district instructional coach team by discussing and developing instructional practices best for students and modeling them for any adult that needs them.

CTE Spotlight - Industrial Tech
Mr. Clark has been a construction educator at Clear Creek Amana for 44 years. Two of the classes he currently teaches are Constructive Materials Processing and Intro to ACE (Architecture, Construction, and Engineering).
Although the classrooms are located at the Middle school, he teaches both middle and high school students. Middle school students take exploratory classes and learn basic construction techniques and construct projects such as a basket or sleigh. While high school students can take construction classes that further fine tune their construction skills but also apply what they have learned from other classes. Students design plans, read plans, measure using fractions and math skills, work with others, problem-solve, and effectively communicate.

Mental Health Matters: Brought to you by the CCA School Therapists
We welcome 2023 with Grace and Gratitude.
Today we want to discuss Anxiety, one of the most common mental health challenges amongst children and teens. Unfortunately, Anxiety is sometimes hard to identify.
Here is an excellent video to help identify the signs of anxiety from Child Mind Institute.
Here is a quick Guide to Anxiety in Children from the Child Mind Institute.
Anxiety is treatable!
Don't get hung up on an anxiety diagnosis. Leave that job for mental health providers. Just pay attention to the symptoms and work on expanding your coping tool box. Involve your Primary Care Provider or support at school to connect with appropriate therapeutic or pharmacological intervention. Currently, all students across Iowa have access to free short term therapy.
Please keep in mind the best way to help your child with mental health is to also take care of your own mental health!
Whether you or your child are experiencing anxiety or high stress it is important to ground yourself. First name your feeling, “I am feeling anxious” and next focus on connecting yourself to your surroundings. Take a breath and move through each of your senses identifying what you see, hear, feel, smell and taste.
