Skills 21
prepare for an audition and experience afterwards
How i prepared for my audience?
I prepared myself by choosing a song that I really like and always wanted to dance to and I chose the song This Woman's Work by MAXWELL. After I choose the song I had to edit it for a 1min30seconds. I asked one of my dance teachers to help me choreograph a dance with me. The dance is about cancer. We thought of some moves that I could put into the choreography and then started the choreography. I got asked to listen to the lyrics so I printed the lyrics out and highlight the words that stand out and also highlighted them in a different colour for the parts that I need to attack and then weaken my arms and I underlined where I needed to show the emotions most. I done some research of finding some tips on how I could prepare myself to be ready for the audition and below this is what I found:

Tips I found
This is the things I found out to prepare for audition by finding tips and what to do whilst choreographying. Also I found out what dancers should do for auditions. This is it:
- Be Original
- Dont be boring
- Stand out from the crowd
- Be fearless
Dress to impress. Come with the outfit you want to wear on TV. It doesn't hurt to wear something you're comfortable in but will also let you stand out in the crowd.
TIPS FOR DANCERS
- I found off another website whilst looking around for tips for auditions and how to prepare myself for it before getting stressed out the day before the audition and also the day of the audition
- It is best if you perform to one or two songs for your audition rather than a mix or medley of songs which can be hard to clear for television. Make sure your choreography is tight and you bring lots of energy. Incorporating tricks and new, unique choreography is always a great way to stand out to the producers and judges. A good way to show your personality and unique style is through your wardrobe/costume. If you are a big group it's always a good idea to dress in your team uniform or another fun costume.
- Please bring your music on a CD or a smartphone/tablet or any other device that can be plugged in via an auxiliary cord. Please make sure the music is NOT streaming from the internet on your device- must be downloaded.

Experience After Audition
Before my audition I was nervous for but as I danced to Maxwell - This Woman's Work my nerves went and I put everything into my dance and I was shocked as the producers clapped at me and they all tears in their eyes and one producer stood up. He asked "How was that?" and I replied with "Emotionally." He asked me why and I answered truthfully and said "It was emotional because the song is about cancer and my grandad died of cancer thats why he doesnt support me anymore."
After I said that there was a pause that lasted like it seems like forever and they said it's the best dance they've saw so far but I still don't know if I got through to the next stage which will be down London. I find out around May time but if I dont find out around May time I never got through. My dad took me to the audition and I told him and said that it sounds promising.
