Wake Up Wright
Students inspect their supply of coffee and hot chocolate pods, creamer, sugar, and other items necessary to serve up the brew to Daniel Wright staff. Once the inventory is stocked they can set up the Wake Up Wright Coffee cart with everything staff desires for a much wanted break in their day.
The Coffee Cart program is a great motivational learning tool for students, said Daniel Wright’s Anna Healy, Learning Behavior Specialist Teacher, and Alexandra Funk, Social Worker. The student services team uses the coffee cart to provide students with real life experiences about working in their community.
Students work with staff to determine how many supplies (coffee and hot chocolate) they need, research how much they should charge for a cup of coffee or hot chocolate, follow directions, then collect payment for the drink while also providing change for the teachers who purchase their weekly product. Not only does the Wake Up Wright Coffee Cart teach money skills, but it also teaches students social skills such as the correct way to greet teachers, how to listen to their customer, and ways to problem solve, Ms. Funk said.
“It's a great real life learning project for students,” Ms. Healy said. “The cart motivates students to learn tasks that might otherwise be challenging for them,” she said.

Mask Update
Congratulations to our students on the first full week of masks being optional/recommended. Students have adapted to this new norm and students are supporting each other’s choices. There have been a few instances where students have not been respectful regarding masks or other student’s nationalities, and those behaviors are not condoned. We encourage you to please continue talking with your children regarding treating others with kindness and respect.
