This Is How We Lakeview
March 2023 Edition: Volume 5
Lakeview appreciates our Assistant Principals!
Next week is Assistant Principal Recognition Week and I have the absolute best administrative team there is! Mr. Baptist, Mrs. Gregory and Mr. Fisher can literally be found all over the entire building doing whatever job is asked of them such as talking with students, bus duty, cleaning bathrooms, clearing our clogged drains, you name it! They work hard and their efforts do not go unnoticed! These people make working at Lakeview fun! If you have a chance in the coming week, please let them know how much they mean to the Lakeview community.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR MARCH STUDENTS OF THE MONTH!
Each month at Lakeview, teachers nominate the students who are going above and beyond what is expected of them. These students show respect for themselves, others, and learning through Building Positive Relationships, Personal Discipline, and Being Better Today Than Yesterday! Congratulations to our March nominees: Flynn Caton, Kristen Adu-Kyereh, Nash Kluth, Demi (Oluwademilade) Opeseitan, Isabella (Izzy) Parsons, Ava Fitch-Wagener, Anton Wyche, Troy Caines, Destiny Dandridge
Spring Dance is May 20th!
Have you heard about the Spring Dance? It is a semi-formal dance for Lakeview students that will be held on May 20th. Spring Dance is a special time for our students and their behavior could influence their ability to be able to attend. Lakeview students have to earn the right to be able to attend the dance. Students who receive In-School Study or Out-of-School Suspension starting after Spring Break which is Monday, March 27th and leading up until the day of the dance will not be able to attend. If your student is following our Lakeview values and not engaging in any activities that could get them suspended, then they will be okay to attend. Any questions, please contact Mrs. Hanagan.
Notes on dress code - dress is semi-formal and follows our student dress code, i.e. appropriate length, shirts buttoned, no sagging pants, no undergarments showing, etc. Examples: nice pants (khakis or dress pants) and a shirt (polo or button down), dresses - think nice dress but not like for Prom (no midriff showing, no cut-outs, not backless, try to follow width of 2 fingers for straps). If you have questions or are out shopping, you can always send an email or Talking Points message which will send a notification to Mrs. Hanagan's phone so she should reply quickly.
This is a junior high dance in the cafeteria, this is not like Prom or Homecoming.

Recent Updates
- A few weeks ago, students took the spring Panorama survey, which we use to understand our students' sense of belonging in the building. Increasing our students' sense of belonging is always a priority for us, as we know that when our students feel welcome, valued, and supported in the building, they thrive.
- Comparing the Spring 2022 survey to this Spring's survey, we saw a 9 percentage point improvement in our students' Sense of Belonging score, which is huge!
Updates from the Family Feedback Form
We received a question about Talking Points as a lot of our teachers have been using this. Talking Points syncs with Infinite Campus so whoever is listed as priority 1 in Infinite Campus receives the Talking Points communication. Also, some families have selected to receive the communication via the Talking Points App, so you may want to login to Talking Points (https://app.talkingpts.org/login) to see your preferences. Just an FYI, you can list more than 1 individual as priority 1 in Infinite Campus so more than 1 parent can receive the Talking Points communications, to change your Infinite Campus settings, please login (https://pickeringtonoh.infinitecampus.org/campus/portal/parents/pickerington.jsp) and update your contact information. If you still need assistance, please email Rachael Hanagan (rachael_hanagan@plsd.us) who can add contacts to Talking Points.
