Just a friendly reminder that picture day is fast approching. Forms will be going home with your student on Monday, October 2nd. 🙂
Student and Family Disctrict Handbook
In an effort to be more environmentally friendly and to cut down on the paperwork that families need to complete at the beginning of the school year, Rockport Public Schools has revised our school handbooks into one updated online Student and Family District Handbook. This new version is published on our website and allows for easy access to an organized list of procedures, practices, and important information.
Please read and review the handbook using this link: Rockport Public Schools Student and Family District Handbook.
Parents and guardians will need to acknowledge that they have read the handbook through this form: Acknowledgment of Receipt of RPS Student and Family Handbook. This form is also available on the Handbook page of our website. Please complete ONE FORM FOR EACH child you have attending Rockport Schools. For 6th through 12th grade students, you will also be prompted to have your child sign this acknowledgement form.
Counseling Connections
Class of 2024:
College admission representatives are continuing to visit RHS Guidance. Please see the Calendar outside of Guidance and signup in Naviance to secure your participation. Coming soon: UMASS Amherst, URI, UVM, Roger Williams University and many others!
Please return your green FERPA transcript release authorization form to Guidance 15 days prior to your first application deadline.
We were so excited by the number of students who came to our Naviance Workshops this week. Our next Workshop will be October 5th on Naviance and The Common App! Please watch for the sign up outside of Guidance.
Early College deadlines are fast approaching!
If you have an application deadline on or before November 1, please email your guidance counselor before October 1 and schedule an appointment with Mrs. Connelly to meet with your counselor at least 15 days in advance of your earliest deadline. Your Naviance Uniqueness/Brag Sheet must be completed before your meeting so it can be reviewed with your counselor. Also, please review your To-Do-List in your customized college folder regarding instructions for the Common App and Naviance and return your green FERPA Transcript Release Form to Guidance ASAP. Guidance can not release any information to your colleges without this signed form. Please Stop by Guidance if you have any questions.
Class of 2025: Juniors will have the opportunity to take the PSAT/NMSQT during the school day on Tuesday, October 24th at RHS. All tests are in a digital format, preparing and practicing students for the Digital SAT in 2024. More details about the exam and registration will be forthcoming to students and families next week.
College Fair - Ipswich High School
Ipswich High School is hosting a College Fair on Wednesday, October 4, at 6:00 p.m. in their lower gymnasium for anyone interested. The colleges that will be attending are posted outside the Guidance office.
Community Service Opportunities
- Love working with kids? Looking for community service hours? Pathways is offering a Counselor in Training (CIT) program for students 16 and older to work with school-age children between the hours of 2:20 - 5:30. The CIT program gives students the ability to gain valuable life/work experience as well as earn community service hours. If interested see Mrs. Luster or stop by the office for a flyer.
- Cape Ann Finns with Gloucester 400 is preparing for the October 27-29, 2023, event. Volunteers—lots of volunteers—are needed to assist in a range of tasks. CAF will either call with volunteer options, email/mail a list of tasks, or both. CAF encourages you to add your name to the list. Call Dona Kaihlanen Shea at 978-239-8245.
