BCCA MESSENGER November 1, 2018
Harmoniously blending the work of redemption and education
Thanks for coming out to Big Cove Christian Academy's Fall Picnic! It was fun! One of my favorite parts of the night was the fire. Fires give out heat and light. In the middle of a cold, dark night, everyone flocked to the fire. It brings people out of the cold darkness and into a warm and bright little community.
This is what I want BCCA to be - a fire for the community. We need to be the light in the darkness. Jesus says, “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:14-16).
Everybody needs to have light and warmth, but sometimes they cannot see the fire so they don’t know where to go. We can show them where the fire is - it’s at BCCA! We need to spread the word. A question from the students’ health homework was what would someone trust more - an online ad or words from someone they know. The answer was words from someone they know. Everyone can do their part to spread our educational ministry by talking about BCCA to the larger community. Talk about it at work. Talk about it while shopping. Talk about it to members of anything you are a part of. People need to know about the fire here at BCCA, and you can be the one that helps show them!

Shoe Ministry Update (Downtown Rescue Mission)
Thank you for being a part of Big Cove Christian Academy's mission to reach the community and help those in need. With the combined efforts between school and church, we collected over 100 pairs of shoes! The upper grade class will be taking these shoes and donating them to the Down Town Rescue Mission. While they are there, they will be serving lunch to the residents residing at the facility. Our goal is for our children to continue to be a witness to our community.

Taking learning outdoors (School Garden)
I hope this finds you spending more time outside in the milder temperatures that we've been blessed with this passed month. Being outdoors is such a gift from God. When we consider the surroundings that God placed Adam and Eve in, we're reminded that being outdoors was God-ordained from the beginning of time. In the book Education, we find the following counsel: "The system of education instituted at the beginning of the world was to be a model for man throughout all aftertime. As an illustration of its principles a model school was established in Eden, the home of our first parents. The Garden of Eden was the schoolroom, nature was the lesson book, the Creator Himself was the instructor, and the parents of the human family were the students." (Education, p21) I'd like to encourage you to spend as much time as possible outdoors in God's nature.
Have a blessed day!
