Special Friends Day
A Note from Matlock - Buddies
This year we will have two buddy programs!! 🙂
- Teacher Buddies - Thank you to all who have signed up to participate. Currently, we have 16 teacher buddies and 18 learner buddies. If you are interested in being a buddy, you are still welcome to sign up here: https://forms.gle/EAuobc6CyLfsnDWF7
- Community Buddies (formerly Reading Buddies) - First United Methodist Church and the Assistance League of Coppell are partnering to recruit volunteer buddies who will meet with designated learners weekly in the Library to read books, play games, do crafts, draw pictures, etc. Their goal will be relationship building and mentoring.
Please reflect on your learners and submit nominations here: https://forms.gle/adYrmyugPbGBd7Ji8
I am training volunteers, sending permission slips home, and creating schedules. As things are confirmed, you will receive emails regarding specific learners.
ESL Conference Opportunity
The following are 2 conferences that the ESL Department is offering to all administrators and teachers. The district will pay for the conference and the school will cover the cost of subs. Please see the link below to learn more, and let Jennifer know if you are interested in attending.

Reminders
Digital Citizenship Support
As part of a district initiative regarding digital citizenship and safety, all learners in grades PreK-12 are expected to take part in an overview of digital citizenship. All learners need to participate in this learning experience by September 9th.
You will find the resources for the Elementary (PK-5) Learner Digital Orientation, located in the District Support and Alignment folder of the Curriculum and Instruction group. Included in the lesson resources is a page that can be copied into Schoology courses as needed.
**As you consider how this works best for you and your class, please don't hesitate to reach out to Courtney Tinch, our DLC. She shared with me that she is happy to help lead this for your class. You can reach out to her, and I've included her information below on the best way to book time with her.
DLC Support - A Note from Courtney Tinch
This link: Click Here will take you to a bulb page, where you can see what campus I will be at on a designated day. Below that, you see a link for a Bookings page. This will let you schedule a time with me, without having to go back and forth trying to find a time that works for both of us. Please refer to the email I send for a how-to video on using the Bookings site if needed.
I would love the chance to meet with everyone and talk about how I can best support you! Looking forward to working with you!
