Enthusiasm is making others aware when you are excited about something.
“There is a real magic in enthusiasm. It spells the difference between mediocrity and accomplishment.” - Norman Vincent Peale
You can get to it using the Bumpus Website (https://www.hoovercityschools.net/bumpus) under the Resources tab.
Not feeling well?
Please stay home. We are required to notify parents if their child comes in contact with someone who is COVID positive and someone who has COVID-like symptoms that cannot be explained by another illness. Staying home may inconvenience you in the short run but it will benefit all of us in the long run. The RFBMS Remote Learning Almanac is up-to-date on all assignments to support the students who are F2F, those who are learning remotely due to being quarantined, and those learning virtually.
What about excessive absences?
Students who are home for COVID positive or COVID exposed are coded as such in attendance.
SCANTRON Formative Assessment - At Home Edition

Reminders about lunch time
Students will be allowed to eat in the cafeteria until we reach a socially distanced capacity of 72 or in their hall's classroom. Microwaves will not be available for student use. Water bottles can be refilled at our filtered water stations. Although the water fountains are not in service, students have access to water in the cafeteria all day.
Check your bus routes
Bus Route Information can be found on the Hoover City Schools website. Once on the website, www.hoovercityschools.net, go to Departments - Transportation - Edulog Web Query Page - enter your address and grade level - click Go. Just like carpool, it will take a while to establish bus route patterns and times. Be sure to arrive at your stop 15-20 minutes before the scheduled stop until the routes are finalized. The number for the Transportation Department is 205-439-1120.
It will take some time for everyone to get comfortable with the carpool procedures. Please do not schedule any appointments before 4:00 until our procedures are more established. Safety is our number one and primary concern. Help us get 300+ students safely home.
Walkers will meet the Crossing Guard in the 1st floor lobby afterschool.
Bumpus Bucs back in football action tonight.
I sent out information yesterday related to tonight's game. If we want our students to be able to continue to compete and be there to observe the games, please adhere to all procedures.

NEWS FROM OUR COUNSELORS
We are the counseling team at Bumpus Middle School! We are committed to encouraging, supporting, and empowering our students to become their best selves. Our primary task is to help ALL students become better learners by providing a counseling program that meets their academic and social/emotional needs. We will be meeting with students individually or in groups, providing curriculum-based counseling lessons, collaborating with parents and teachers, and organizing events and resources to benefit and meet the needs of our Bumpus students. We are able to provide brief, short term counseling to help students overcome issues impacting their school performance. Confidentiality between counselor and student is respected unless the student is hurting themselves or has a plan to, is hurting someone else, or someone is hurting them.
Although we do not require parent consent, if you would like to request we meet with your student about a specific concern, please don't hesitate to contact your grade level counselor. Your child can contact us during the school day in person, via email or by using the Counselor Button on our school website.
We are excited to be your child's school counselor and look forward to this school year!

BUMPUS FACE MASKS
Message from PTO President, Cyndi Hodges:
The 20/21 Bumpus PTO recognizes that this school year is challenging, but we are certain that our faculty and students are ready to tackle all it brings. Our main goals this year are to help with purchases that will make the students and staff feel safe and more comfortable. It is also very important we continue to host the Teacher Appreciation events that the faculty greatly deserves. The way we accomplish these goals is through Fundraising. As you can imagine, Covid-19 Guidelines are making our normal fundraising efforts very different. We need your help as we navigate these changes.
Bumpus Spirit Nights will continue, our first one hosted by Chick-Fil-A on Tuesday, 9/22. Check the weekly newsletter and the Bumpus social media accounts for additional information in the coming weeks. We have moved our main fundraiser and field day, the Annual Bumpus Color Run, to 3/12/21 in the hopes that it will look the most like it has in the past. We've been asked to wait to register students for the Color Run until January. When MySchoolFees.com goes live this Tuesday, 9/01, Color Run will not be listed as previously communicated. On Tuesday, you will be able to buy a Bumpus Spirit Shirt and choose your size through myschoolfees.com. All shirts are in Adult sizes and cost $15.00, 2X and 3X are $17.00. We also ask that you consider a donation direct to the PTO. Never before has your PTO Donation been more crucial and we are hopeful you will contribute. We have set up donation amount options of $25.00, $50.00, $75.00 & $100.00. Please give what your family budget will allow. We will be good stewards of your money and make smart purchases for the faculty and staff!
We have a fantastic Board this year filled with extremely hard-working parents eager to make our school the best it can be! If you have any questions for us, please email us at email@example.com. Our PTO Executive Board listing, Meeting Minutes and Annual Budget are available to view on the Bumpus PTO page, under "Programs" on the schools website: https://www.hoovercityschools.net/domain/1404.
We are blessed with an amazing administration and dedicated teachers who have adapted in ways that none of us could have imagined. Our children are so resilient and it is a testament to your parenting that they are adjusting so well. Our PTO is very grateful to have such engaged families who recognize the importance of parent involvement in our schools. Thank you all so much for your continued support!
