Bellville Elementary Newsletter
Welcome to 2019-2020!
We have been working hard to plan a fun, learning filled school year for our awesome students! Our theme this year is Kindness Matters. We will be focusing on kindness through our words and actions throughout the school year. Many new students are joining us this year, so we are going to focus on welcoming everyone to Bellville Elementary and showing kindness to our new friends this month!
Please do not forget school fees this year are $55 if paid by September 30th. (This includes $40 for school fees and a $15 technology fee.) If school fees are paid after September 30th, they will increase to $65. ($50 for school fees and a $15 technology fee.)
School will begin at 7:55 a.m. and end at 2:40 each day. If you are dropping your child(ren) off, please do not drop your child(ren) off before 7:30 a.m. Our teachers do not begin their work day until 7:35, and there will not be anyone present to watch your child(ren). Updated drop off and pick up procedures are written in detail below.
Bellville offers breakfast for students if they arrive before 7:50 a.m. at a cost of $1.00. Lunch prices are $2.75 this year. The Free and Reduced Lunch application is attached below as well as the updated charge policy for Clear Fork Schools.
Fall Picture Day is Wednesday, August 28th! Please mark your calendars.
In an effort to take care of our beautiful new building, all students need clean gym shoes for Phys Ed class. Please notice this does not ask for new shoes, but clean shoes. This means you may take an existing pair of tennis shoes, wash them, and bring them to school to be kept in your child's locker or cubicle.
Please do not forget our new building is equipped with air conditioning, so all students are expected to adhere to the dress code.
- Shorts should be no more than 3 inches above the knee.
- Shirts are to have three inch shoulder straps.
- Shirts are not be more than three inches below the collarbone.
- All sandals should have an ankle strap, as your child will be traveling up and down steps, as well as outside at our new playground.
- With the air conditioning, your child may want a light jacket or sweater to keep at school in case they are cold.
If you are struggling to provide your child with school supplies or school clothes, I can submit student names to the New Store for clothes and a pair of shoes, and the Bellville Salvation Army for a book bag and supplies. There is an application, which goes directly to each organization, and all information is kept confidential. Please call or email Mrs.Swank if you would qualify for these services.
I have set two goals for this school year in order to beautify and improve our students' learning environment. The first purchase I would like to make is four picnic tables to be placed around our new playground. This would provide our students with a place to sit and talk with friends, read, work on homework, or do a hobby. It would also provide an outside learning space for students during the school day.
The second purchase is a sensory pathway to be located in our kindergarten hallway. I have attached information for the sensory pathway below. It creates a path for all of our students to relieve some energy, provide a brain break, and refocus to help them concentrate better in class. If you or your business are able to provide a donation for these special projects to help our students, please call or email Mrs. Swank.
Thank you so much for your support as we begin our first full school year in the new building, and please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. We will work hard to create a positive, fun-filled, and safe learning environment for your child(ren)!
Sincerely,
Stacey S. Swank

New Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures
Car Riders: If you are bringing your child to school or picking your child up from school, please come down Durbin Ave. and turn left on School St. You will make a right turn at the first alley, travel behind the Board Office (Annex) and follow the driveway up to the front entrance of the school. Please stay in the right lane. The left lane needs to be kept clear in case emergency vehicles, or if someone is driving to the Board Office. Once you have dropped off or picked up your child, you will turn right and exit onto School Street. Please do not drop your child off at the school before 7:30 a.m. each morning. During dismissal, Mrs. Swank will be walking the drive and texting student last names into teachers in order to get students out of the building as efficiently as possible.
Walkers and Bicycle Riders: All walkers and bicycle riders please travel down the alley in front of the main entrance of Bellville Elementary School and use the sidewalk to get to the front door. At dismissal time, walkers and bicycle riders will be released out the front door and will stay on the sidewalk where an adult will supervise the crosswalk.
Middle School /High School Walkers catching the shuttle bus: Middle School and High School students should not arrive to Bellville Elementary school before 7:10 to catch the shuttle bus. MS/HS students will walk down the alley adjacent to the front sidewalk of the building, enter the front door where the School Resource Officer is supervising, and travel through the main hallway, down the steps and out the cafeteria door to catch the shuttle bus. In the afternoons, MS/HS students will get off the shuttle bus, enter the cafeteria door, go up the steps to the main hallway, out the front entrance of the building, taking the sidewalk to the alley. No students will be permitted to get off the bus and walk through the parking lot as it puts their safety at risk.
