Its hard to believe that the school year is one quarter of the way complete! With the holiday season approaching it seems like this time of the year goes by even quicker! We have a couple of upcoming events that I want to make sure you are aware of.
Next Wednesday is Parent Visitation day and we would like to invite you to join us between the hours of 8:45 a.m. and 2:45 p.m., to visit your child’s classes. Additional parking will be available near the tennis courts. Upon your arrival, please sign in at the registration table in the lobby, and pick up a visitor’s badge. You must have proper identification to enter the building. Please review your child's schedule to know what class he/she will be in during the times you plan to visit. In order to help us with logistics you must sign up in advance using this link: https://goo.gl/forms/TaYSJD8tNNRyeIYk1.
On Wednesday, December 20, 2017 BMS will host a Career Information Fair. The format will be like last year. All volunteers will have a table in the gym where they can set up information about their occupation. All three grade levels will rotate through at different times. We had a lot of fun last year and we are hoping to build off of that success! If you choose to volunteer you will be needed from 8:35 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. If you are interested in volunteering and receiving more information please complete the form below. We will only be able to have this event if we have enough volunteers. Right now we have 4 signed up! Use this link to sign up: https://goo.gl/forms/pjT1UR4W1GhHbiTi2.
I would like to take the time to acknowledge all of the wonderful things that our students are doing outside of school. For example, on Sunday I know the Boonsboro Football team is competing in the Championship game. I know we have students that are participating in upcoming ballets, hockey games, and a whole host of other events. I know that these things are happening because parents have completed the form below to share them with me. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to congratulate your child!

Finally, our next newsletter will be delayed until after the Thanksgiving Break. I hope each of you have a Happy Thanksgiving! It is truly an honor to serve this community.

Counseling Corner
Eighth grade students in Washington County have many options for high school programming. Different programs can be found on the Washington County Public Schools website. The High School Program of Studies is a great place to start and can be found at http://wcpsmd.com/academics/curriculum. Please encourage your 8th grader to stop by the Counseling Center if they have questions.
During Warrior Wednesday 8th grade students interested in applying to Barbara Ingram School for the Arts attended a presentation with BIFSA staff and students. During the presentation students received information about the programs available, details on the schedule of courses, and how to apply. Barbara Ingram School for the Arts (BIFSA) is currently accepting applications for the 2018-2019 School Year. The application is due on December 8, 2017 directly to BIFSA.
You can find the application at http://wcpsmd.com/schools/high-schools/barbara-ingram-school-arts or have your student stop by the Counseling Center for a copy.
SSL reminder: 8th grade students who have community activities that are with Non-Profit Organizations should come to the Counseling Center for pre-approval of the activity. Additionally, after a student has completed a pre-approved activity, they should complete the questions on the back of the yellow SSL card and return it to the Counseling Center as soon as possible.

WEB News
WEB Leaders did a fabulous job in 6th grade classrooms this past Wednesday! Their lesson, "Lighten the Load," centered around how words can hurt and the importance of making people feel good, not bad. To quote a teacher, "Any time 8th graders can get together with 6th graders is a positive thing and they did a great job." We are so proud of them!
