Scot Nation: At A Glance
October 2nd-7th
End of the Quarter
The grading period ends for make-up work, retakes, and do-overs October 12th. Please share the information with your students and the expectations you have for them to meet your deadline. Remember we have many ESOL and IEP Students as well as those who struggle, so please initiate this conversation, make contacts with parents and scaffold students..."The consequence of not doing the work, is doing the work."
That will be the end of the Quarter...How many grades will you have entered?
Flex Time
Ø Flex Day Information: Please share this information with certified staff. Certified staff choosing to utilize a FLEX Day on Friday, October 13, 2017 will need to complete a time sheet showing 8 hours worked beyond the duty day beginning Monday, October 2, 2017 through Friday, October 13, 2017. (Certified staff may also elect to work hours on Friday, October 13, 2017 as part of the 8 hours.) These hours can be accumulated before school, after school, or during the weekend (when the building is open). Each school principal will inform their certified staff when the building will be accessible by Monday, October 2, 2017. The time sheet will be turned in to the office assistant responsible for posting payroll by the end of the day, Thursday, October 12, 2017. The end of first quarter grades must be posted on Power School by 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 13, 2017.

Thanks for telling me, as Karen Cline did some research and she says...when you open it in Chrome it disappears, but stays when you do it in Firefox!
Great information to have.
YE
I have some good news for you all! This year, YE will be having TWO Market Days, one for each of my two classes that I have this year. For those of you who are new to HP or unaware of what Market Day is, it is a day in which my Entrepreneurship class is able to run a small business for the day (lunch hour). The students go through a similar process that a business would go through in order to obtain financing and we discuss all of the things necessary for the kids to run their business.
This year, Market Day will be October 24th and 25th (three weeks from today). It occurs during the lunch hour and the kids are all selling some type of food. We have some main dishes, side dishes, and desserts.
We have been working on our loan requests and the kids will be doing their bid on Monday, the 9th. I put this on the pineapple board in the collaboration room, but I want to make sure to extend this offer to all of HPHS. I would love to have you come in to help judge the groups' bid pitches to see if what they are selling is something that would sell well at Market Day. I also might have a small token of appreciation for you for helping my kids out. :)
I would need people during 4th and 5th hour on Monday. Please let me know if you would be willing to help!
Thanks,
Kirsten
