Peek At The Week!
Week of 10/21/19
Principal's Message...
Last week our Safety Committee met to review evacuation emergency plans. We will be conducting a drill soon and our first one will be announced ahead of time. Please review all evacuation plans and expectations with students. I will send a more detailed email out regarding this event, later in the week. It is important that you leave substitute plans that include what to do in the event of an emergency at PDES. As always, if you have any questions, input or concerns, reach out to me.
In the upcoming weeks, I will be visiting classrooms and attending all lunches and recesses. My hope is to shift my focus to instructional leadership and to strengthen expectations and relationships with students in the lunchroom and on the play yard. I am hopeful that we will have the support of a Behavior Analyst from Momentum Inc. to help with some of the behavior challenges that have erupted in classrooms and that I will be able to focus on teaching and learning. Thank you to everyone, for your support. I am impressed everyday with the commitment and dedication I see in this community.
Our crisis team met last week, as well. This team will be trained in Safety Cares, formerly CPI training. Mick and Kris attended the first of 2 full day training sessions on Friday and will attend another training next week. There will be 2 more training sessions offered in November. Kate and I will be attending and I would like for others to join, as well. Please let me know if you are interested in the November training.
Thank you for an inspirational visioning work session last week! I will type the collected qualitative data for our SIT team to analyze. They will use this data to craft vision statements and those statements will be presented back to the community for a vote. For our next faculty meeting, we will continue to talk about social emotional learning and the response to intervention pyramid.
Finally, our Superintendent would like to set up a date to come visit PDES for a meet and greet/open forum. She asked for a few dates and will get back to me soon. I will email faculty and staff, as soon as we have a date.
Wishing everyone a great week!
~Kim
