Edgewood Weekly Update- July 30
Connecting Families and School Through Communication!
Dear Edgewood Families...
Hello!
Reaching out with positive intentions because first and foremost on my mind this week has been student registration...
At this time we only have 32% of our returning students registered online. This is greatly impacting my planning for staff placements and development of class lists. Some of our anticipated classes only have 3 to 5 students currently registered.
At this time I would like to strongly encourage all who still need to complete registration to do so, this week.

Next week we will have walk-in online registration support at Jefferson Jr. High, with access for families to use the computer labs.
If you would like to complete your child's (childrens') registration with our help, please join us and new families to Woodridge, at JJHS on Wednesday, August 6th, from 2:00 to 7:00 P.M., and Thursday, August 7, from 1:00 to 8:00 P.M.
As the month of July is ending, we are definitely feeling some crunch time here at Edgewood with the completion of our construction projects, as well. In the picture above you can see that laying the pavers is just about complete in the back of the building, and in the picture below you can see part of the side walk that has been created so that our students and visitors are not walking in the parking lot (behind parked cars) to get around to the Gym. Other neat additions to the exterior of our school will include new landscaping, a "reading garden" at the front of the building, and three raised garden beds in the center circle. If you are an avid gardener, please be in touch with me! We can collaborate on ideas for plantings and how to get our students involved with gardening. :)
More dates to have in mind...
August 21st- Class lists for the 2014-2015 school year will be posted on the back doors of the school, at 2:00 P.M.
August 25th- Bus Routes will be available from new transportation company, First Student.
Tentative day for "Back to School Event," starting at 2:00 P.M.
6:30-7:30 P.M. Kindergarten Curriculum Night, in the Gym
August 27th- First Day of School for Students
September 9th- Curriculum Night, for grades 1-6, 6:30 to 8:00 P.M.
Continue to Foster Summer Learning, at Home!
Here also a couple more sites that can keep the kids thinking... while on the computer:
IXL (Students in grades 1-5 were given passwords to use.) The activities in math and reading are available by grade level. If you do not have a password, the site has free access to 20 questions a day for practice!
Staying in touch...
Please continue to provide input or ask questions via this Smore, or my e-mail.
I hope that many of you have enjoyed some vacation time together as families, and that the kids are getting lots of time to play outside! The weather has certainly not been too hot this summer!
Once the walk-in registration days are done next week, I'll be in touch again to let you know how things are progressing with class lists and other plans for the upcoming school year.
With care and
educationally yours,
Mrs. Hughes
