End of Year Pioneer Puma Post
June 1, 2023
A message from Mr. Jakious ...
We did it! Today was a great last day of the year. Thank you to everyone who made it such a success. Through the efforts of the staff, parents, and students themselves, our Pumas demonstrated tremendous growth across the board ... academically, behaviorally, and socially. I am so proud of what we all accomplished this year!
5th Grade Families: You will be missed at Pioneer, but your children are ready to go on and do great things at Middle/High School and beyond!
K-4 Families: We are excited to have you back next year. Please review the information below carefully and reach out with any questions.
I hope you all have a safe summer filled with relaxation, family, friends, and fun.
Regards,
David Jakious
Principal, Pioneer School of the Arts

Next Year's Calendar
You can find the 2023-24 School Calendar by clicking on the link below. Make sure you look at 2023-24!
We greatly appreciate your efforts to ensure your child misses as little school as possible by scheduling appointments and vacations during school breaks whenever possible. Refer to the calendar linked below.
Increasing overall attendance will be one of our school goals next year, because learning starts with being at school and on time as often as possible!
Keep Those Skills Sharp!
Summer means fun in the sun and relaxation. That being said, we appreciate parents finding ways for your child to continue to apply the skills he or she worked so hard to develop over the school year. Examples include involving kids in shopping (math), cooking (science), community service, enrichment opportunities, and read … read … read!
Don't Forget About SUMMER SPLASH!
Class Placements
The only way to identify your child’s Grade 1-5 teacher before Meet & Greet is by logging into PowerSchool on or after August 2. Kindergarten families should receive a letter from your child’s teacher in the mail by late-June or early-July.
IMPORTANT: Please note that your child’s teacher will not be available on PowerSchool if you have overdue books or have not updated your information in PowerSchool since March 1. This update is required annually and takes at least one business day to register as completed in the system. If you need help with this, call the office (by June 8 or after July 26) or the district HelpDesk at 208-350-5300 (all summer).
Meet & Greet - August 15 (4:30 - 5:30 PM)
A more thorough look at the annual curriculum and classroom procedures will occur at Open House on August 31.
School Supply List
Please make sure that you use the School Supply List we have posted to our website (linked below) rather than the one on the district homepage or the one distributed to local stores.
West Ada School District publishes a standard district-wide list and, while we are not permitted to add items to this list, our teachers have removed items that they do not plan to use in an effort to make sure Pioneer parents are not purchasing unneeded supplies. It is suggested you keep your receipt in case any of the grade-level items happen to not be required by your child’s specific teacher.
