From initial vocabulary acquisition through to extended and complex langauge linked to all genres of writing and communication, the methods shared on this course provide a thorough overview of proven practical actvities designed to accelerate language acquisition.
The course will be delivered by Chris Williams who has worked alongside teams of primary and secondary teachers developing and implementing approaches which ensure the required expressive and receptive language skills pupils have enable tnem to make progress in reading, writing and all curriculum subjects.
This course will provide:
- Practical acticities to support all pupils learning English as an additional language
- Approaches for pupils of all ages
- Step by step strucutured activities for all genres of language and communication
- A wide range of ideas and activities which can be used immediately in the classroom
- Resources and approaches to support students which can be shared with colleagues
- Activities to support parents and carers
This course features the use of iPads (provided for use on the day, no experience necessary!) although ideas, methods and activities can be carried out on other devices. All activities require a minimum of 1 mobile device and are not reliant on extensive whole-school investment in technology.
